Hey guys.

Well, I got to thinking tonight, it was nice having the ka-bar the way I did, up-side down under my right arm, But I wanted a little more from it. I didnt like having my psk (personal survival kit) around my waist, and I didnt want another satchel over my shoulder, So I came up with this.

My psk and ka-bar in one survival kit. I'd like to think, god for bid my axe, H revovler, and multitool went missing that having this set-up would get me through.

Here it is.

First I wanted to show the rig its self, with the contents I wanted, and how I wanted things to hang.

And I wanted them to hang something like this.

But that didnt happen and I ended up with this. Which wasn't a bad thing, because in the end, it fit, and was more comfortable than I originaly thought.

Now, with just my under shirt.

Now with an over shirt.

Then finally with my hunting sweat shirt.

At the end of all this, It was light, tight and formed well to my body. I figured it would feel is though I was being pulled back wards, but the end result was much better that what I though it was going to be. I haven't field tested it yet, but its 12:00 am

So, hopfully this week, ill get a chance to take it for a spin. Now, ill have all I need with me at all times, wont have to worry about weighing down my belt, and I still have loads of room for my H revolver and wave.

haha, forget that thing, its just to show how much it DOESNT bulg out the back :D:D

Awesome job.

I won't nickpick your choice of items, but I would suggest you find or hammer-out a rectangle pan to custom fit inside that pouch. Your gear fits inside the pan, pan fits in pouch.

Are those rolling hitchs or half hitch knots?

Half hitchs, but their melted, and chemicly bonded. (crazy glue)

Also, I thought about the pan thing, and may just get a Pie plate, I have some heavy duty tinfoil, but I'd like something more.

Is your Kabar attached to a belt? I have a similar rig with my seal2000. I Find that it swings around too much when I climb up and down stuff.

Upon closer inspection, I realise that your "harness" is like some kind of reversed bra. Can you tighten the rig after you put it on? Mine you have to take off and adjust depending on how much clothes you're wearing.

No, its cant be tightened. But its fits perfectly over an under shirt which is where I wanted it, under the layers, there untill the time where I need it. Its not meant to be taken on and off all the time, as the contents in the back aren't accsesable unless I cut the cord or take it off.

i dont know if you did or not but you can convert the MEG light to work with LEDs. Its brighter and batteries last 4-5 time longer easy. Makes the best EDC light.

nice rig. I gotta put some kits together.

and look in the background: GTA Vice City and San Andreas posters :D
those are fun games  :D

Is there some reason that you have the pouch on the same side as the KaBar? Wouldn't it be more comfortable to offset the weight of the knife by putting your PSK under the opposite arm? (Some nylon webbing and neoprene padding wouldn't hurt either! :p )

Heh, thought about that too, but it sticks into my other arm, so its really not that comfy. And surprizingly enough, its not lop sided.

Yea, this and some other threads are making me put some small kits together. My smallest kit now is a Plano tackle box for my truck. I have some old army ammo belt pouchs that I will experiment with. Of course this means I will need more knives.

lol after hanging out on wilderness & survival I started putting together altoid tin travel kits to go in coat pockets :D

Fonly, nice looking setup to keep the goodies handy!

Salamander42, I also got a NiteIze LED conversion for a Maglite AA from Walmart some time back and *REALLY* liked it compared to the incandescent bulb's fragility and weaker output. However, I hope that my experience with the NiteIze conversion unit isn't typical, because after about a month or so it would not turn off, no matter how hard I twisted it.

So to turn the Maglite off now, I have to unscrew the endcap from the body of the light, turn the rear battery around to break the circuit, then screw the endcap back on. To turn the light on, I reverse the procedure. Major PITA to do.

That's why my EDC light now is an Inova XO2, along with 2 Inova Mini-LED lights (like Photon II's) as backups. The Maglite is just too much hassle to deal with, so it rides in a pack pocket to use when I have lots of spare time to fuss with it.

I got an MJ LED drop-in from the Sandwich Shoppe. 25 hours continuous useable light in my personal test, and brighter than the OEM bulb by a good amount.
