Well, it took me a while, but I picked this this one up in Dayton tonight. If any of you wiser and older Hogs could fill me in with some info, I would sure appreciate it (Jerry, this includes you also please). I was told by the original owner tonight that it is from around 1990's. It mikes .147 Satin Finish, Sabre ground, small holes and not chamfered, the linen has nice crisp edges on them all the way around. let me know what else I am missing. Thanks in advance. I will try and take some better pics when I get home, motel lights suck

Obvious fake send it to me.

Can't believe you were duped!

I don't know enough about the meaner series to give any kind of intelligent answers besides "I want it".

Nice snag too!

I doubt it was made in the 90 if it has tube fasteners. Usually if it has tube fasteners it is INFI. Why wouldn't we think this was a leaner meaner, maybe even a LE without the #? Looks like the tiger hide handles and it's saber grind so I would say it's an 04 Leaner Meaner.

Yep, looks like it

Here are three of my leaner, the middle one is the LE with Tigerhide.

Here is my semi-educated guess. I would say that used to be a satin/snake Leaner Meaner at one time and the handles were swapped out with a Leaner LE to make a snakeskin Leaner LE. This appears to be the byproduct of that swap which makes it appear to be a sterile Leaner LE. The only thing that does not look right is the tube fasteners. On the LE's like in Dan's photo they are shiny and smooth but the tube fasteners on the one in your pic look almost rough leading me to believe they might not even be from Busse. You can see an example of tube fasteners from Busse in Dan's pic on the satin/green linen version which was sent back to Busse, probably for a satin job and got the standard tube fasteners back on it. I could be wrong but I have not seen an original that did not have that nice shiny tube fasteners on it.

Yea, interesting idea, never thought about it but very possible. But you would think if you were going to swap out handles, they would at least used good tube fasteners.
Yea, the HOG that had that LE before me was a good guy, kept his stuff in MINT condition :D

Well, first, these handles fit way to good to ever have been taken off another knife and switched, I mean these fit real good, this one has been laying around for a while, and third, the guy I got it from supposably worked for Jerry at the shop

A lot of times handles will fit well and making them fit can easily be done by somebody that used to work for Jerry. I have seen handles swapped by Horton or Ban that look factory and I can't even tell except for the tube fasteners. If I were a betting man I would say those handles came from an LE originally, and I would also guess they had snakeskin before the swap. I only think that because I have seen a few Leaner LE's with snakeskin handles before. That being said, you have an incredible knife there. I have only kept a few EDC sized blades since the CABS came out, an ABA, a Lean Mean, a Cultie and of course a few Leaner Meaners.

"leaner meaner" streets didn't exist before the more current run, it was just "mean street" from the straight handled series. Initially they were smooth bolt and slotted, then tube fasteners just like the steel hearts, but all in the older straight handled shape. What you have was produced within the last 7 years.
