I think I came across a older Meaner tonight.

"leaner meaner" streets didn't exist before the more current run, it was just "mean street" from the straight handled series. Initially they were smooth bolt and slotted, then tube fasteners just like the steel hearts, but all in the older straight handled shape. What you have was produced within the last 7 years.

Thank you, very interesting.

That knife would be from the mid 2000 range, not the '90s. The swedge on the tube fasteners look to be Busse factory, so I would guess if the previous owner worked at Busse, it was a probably a inside re-handle job. This does not detract anything from the knife, maybe just makes it unique. Enjoy the knife for what it is! :D

Weren't the Snakeskin Leaners Sterile?

I don't know why they would all be? Most meaners and leaners from 04 (except LE) I have seen sterile and with a Busse logo. The only leaners I have seen in Snakeskin were double cut and sterile (mine) but they aren't that easy to come by. I do have a .22" Meaner in satin with the ergo logo, so I'm guessing it's just the way they were ordered.

Older Mean Streets and Lean Street (except the one with the Busse Logo, that's a .27" from a show)

I'm going to have to get the rest of your streets as soon as I find something else you want more :-)

Too late. That snake is gone and I kept the sterile snake. That and the black paper are all I have left and they are here to stay.

I would add that it probably was not originally satin, but coated. The blade profile looks slightly off, as if a tiny bit of metal was removed when applying the satin.

I would disagree with that just because of the way the picture looks, the sharpness of the logo, and the eveness of the thickness of the blade at.147

It could have happened if he worked for the shop like you said he did cause he could just have the logo put on afterwards.

Not if the logo was there to begin with.

I guess you would have to see the knife in person, and then all the speculation and guessing would be gone.
I am pretty much a person that relies on facts and not guesswork.

If it was coated to begin with (which I highly doubt) then the satin job was done legitimately at the shop. I have not seen a coated Leaner Meaner though and I think this was satin to begin with.

roenman, regardless of what this started out as, you have a very sweet and unique Leaner that will fetch a pretty penny even in today's crappy economy. Great find!!

I actually own a few of the coated leaner meaners. They were the ornigal blanks from 04 but didn't come out then and was sold at other shows. I think have a camo one that was from an 06 ganza and another one from Bill himself from a different show. But if it wasn't an ormigal satin, then I would guess that it was a double cut. I have never seen an 2004 leaner or .22" meaner with a coated blade either.

It mikes .147 Satin Finish...

Damn... that's pretty much my dream "user" Busse; just what I'd really like to have for outdoor use. It makes my heart ache when I see one. My new CABS has helped tremendously to ease the pain, but seeing your new knife is bringing back those longings.

NICE SCORE!!!!!

Stay sharp,
