Just an FYI for anyone who is selling on any forum.
I had a guy email me regarding a knife I had up for sale here on the forum. He didn't post on the forum so I don't know his screen name. He sent me an email. He said he was an old retired guy on a fixed income. He had been interested in this particular knife for some time but could not afford it because of his financial situation. He made me an offer and I thought, ok I'll cut the guy some slack as I can relate to his situation because my Dad is on a fixed income. So I email the guy back and tell him ok I'll sell it for that price. Later I get a reply back from this guy asking about another possibility, he likes another knife I have up for sale and would I consider selling both knives for price (which now is selling both knives for less than my asking price) as he thinks he can "swing" that one. I emailed him back stating that I needed to get the asking price because I'm working on another knife purchase but if he is still interested in the first one, I would still sell it to him for that price. I had some other things going on here and I was sidetracked so I wasn't paying much attention to the details. I later get an email from PayPal that I have received payment from this guy. Since I was heading out, I went ahead and packaged up the knife and shipped it out. Later that afternoon, I was going through my emails and checking on the status of the knives and the "lighbulb" went off (finally)! Wait a minute, if he could afford to buy two knives, why couldn't he afford to pay the asking price of the first one?
SUCKER!
Anyways while I was checking my email, I saw that the PayPal payment he sent was for $3 less than the price we agreed upon. I had already shipped the knife out (because I already read that he sent payment). I emailed him and told him the knife was on it's way and that he did not send payment in the amount that we agreed upon. I haven't heard back from him yet.
SUCKER #2!
Now, because I was being kind hearted and wanted to help out another "knife person", I think I got suckered.
Lesson 2: Make sure the price is agreed upon by both parties.
Lesson 3: Make sure that when you receive payment, that it is correct.
Lesson 4: Wait until the payment is received and in the right amount.
LESSON 1: DON'T FALL FOR HARD LUCK STORIES.
So if you get an email from someone telling you their hard luck story, and they want to buy something from you for a lesser price than your asking price, DON'T FALL FOR IT!
Because of this one individual I will never cut a deal for anyone else who tries to give me a hard luck story.
I wasn't out that much $, but it's the principle of the thing. Thanks, guy. I will not be doing any business with you again. For anyone else who may have received a similar email, PM me or email me and I will provide the real name and address of this person so nobody else gets took.
