i had recently chipped the edge of my gayle bradley spydie on some sort of pallet staple. (and i really beat the crap out of it because i couldnt believe that m4 hadnt sheared through the wood it had slid so smoothly past before) the chip thankfully wasnt very large and then was just one tiny chip even after multiple strikes. all i have is an old large 2 grit oil stone, usually reserved for my case knives alone. Ive never even tried vg10 or 154cm. i couldnt sleep so i set to work just to see. and sure enough within 30mins one the rough side and maybe 5 on the fine the chip is gone and the blade shaves easily. the edge feels more grabby so maybe it could use more finishing time but from such a tough steel like m4 for that amount of time for some1 who usually sends knives into the factory for sharpening is impressive to me. I cant really think of how it can get much better. there is more than one reason why this steel dominates bladesport competitions

I chipped the edge of my GB prying carpet staples out of floor decking. I just sharpened the knife up the way I normally would, and ignore the chips. Cuts just fine, I don't even notice them.

i noticed the snaging when the chip was larger but now it is almost non existent and shaves hair, chops just as well as it always did. m4 is easy to work with and works hard.
