I think I need an Arête...

What I love about the Arete profile is that when I am using it, it disappears in my hand. I think that is the sign of an excellent knife. When you are noticing little things about a knife in use, it is usually because something is not quite right. Overall, it is probably my favorite fiddleback.

I agree with everything you said Tod. It is a "just right" size for an all around field and bushcraft knife and the handle is extremely comfortable in a variety of holds. I like the look of the coffee bag burlap one that you scored yesterday. That will be a nice compliment to your Scandi.

I do love an Arête! BEAUTIFUL profile! I am currently using one for my predominate woods knife, but... if you want to carry and are looking for smaller, the KE Bushie is fabulous! It's like an overgrown guardless Hiking Buddy! USAMadeBlade has a white one right now!

I'll second Willy C. on the KEB. Between the Arete and the KEB, the KEB 'feels' more like the Asp to me.

I sure hope this idea took root. As well as the mini-muk. Aretes have been scarce lately and I was glad to be able to pick one up. I love the HB, but little more belly would be perfect!!!! Can't wait to see something like this materialize. It would be my edc.

Appears it's going forward. Blanks profiled. :) That looks like the mini BC in the top right.

I can provide no help on the Arete, but I can vouch for the KE Bushie. The Arete is one model that has eluded me.

Kind of on topic but I decided to go a different direction. This is what I got. AA Forge Grunt 3.5" blade.

Nice score on that grunt. I was going to grab that one two days ago but I bought a white one a few weeks back, but I really like that color setup.
Back to fiddlebacks. You still need an arete.

Nice looking knife. I love the 52100 steel. Your still going to come back and get an Arete though! They are just that good. I'll have a write up on two Aretes side-by-side next week!

I'll be on the look out for that write up...

looks like esquire, but 52100 steel?

Modern 52100 is extremely fine grained. Many knife forgers consider it to be the best material to work with. I have two 52100 knives from Dan Winkler and they are both excellent pieces.
