I think I screwed up…

ya dude, you need a new pivot screw. I hope the cost of the repair isn't more than you paid for the knife. In that respect, I also hope its not an expensive knife.

My buddies knife had a stripped pocket clip screw. I used a dremel to cut a slot into it and then removed it with a large flat head.

That's a genius idea. I say do that if possible. If not, maybe jb weld an old screw driver bit into the screw, let it set, and then wrench it out. :D

This was actually kinda what I was hopping would work…:foot:

My hope was that if it would have worked i would be able to back off the tension on the pivot and be able to save the screw.

Thanks for all the replies BTW  though I’m not sure I’m happy that so many people have seen what happened when I drank to much scotch and decided to be an idiot. :D

When *I* did exactly that to my SOG Flash II, I solved the problem the next day with a torx driver that was just a bit big. I gently hammered it into the Hole (that should have been a hex hole, but was now round).
I worked beautifully! It is now a great Torx headed screw.
Try it, it may work for you!

Whenever I drink a little too much I find myself online buying a new knife (usually one I've been thinking about for a while but just couldn't bring myself to spend the money). I guess the inhibitions of "my wife's going to kill me for buying another knife" get drowned away.

Exactly! I'm totally with you on that one. Then I spend the rest of the week worrying, how I'm going to slip this one through with out her knowing.
Especially since she pays the MC bill once a month.

The same night that me and Jonny Walker had our get together. I tried pounding a small flat head screw driver into the pivot. It screwed it up pretty bad…:grumpy:

However as I said above at about $50 its just a cheap little knife (not really worth sending it off for warranty work) but the AO was what made the knife stand out from all the other knives I have in my EDC rotation.

That being said I didn’t really use the knife a whole lot. It got a whole lot of carry time ridding in the watch pocket. Even without the AO most of the things that made it a good carry knife are still there: decent steel, decent ergonomics, and so light that I never even knew it was there.

I can still open and close the knife so I think I’m gonna keep it where it is. And maybe if I find a good deal I’ll get another Flash I.

The moral of the story is that when the scotch comes out put away the knives…and as mentioned above it might be a good idea to hide the credit cards as well.:D

:Dlol when i saw your thread title i instantly assumed you cut the tip of your finger off or something, lets try to keep the firewater and sharp things seperate eh?;)

I don’t have any shortage of cuts on my hands but nothing that serious. :p
