I think I'm gonna carry it...

So I made a knife last week that I intended to sell but it's kinda growing on me. I think I'm gonna press a kydex (handle down, vertical) and start carrying it. The parameters of the project was to make a knife that I would feel comfortable with betting my ass on if I were to deploy again. Steel is approximately 3/16" 1084 with a clay temper hamon and natural canvas micarta.

Pretty knife. Never seen clay tempering. I'm knew to all this so I'll have to go check it out. Subscribed to your channel too. :D

Looks awesome CM! Just out of curiosity, why would you choose a high carbon steel for a combat knife instead of say 3v, 4v, or 10v?

It's what I had on hand.

Nice design, CM. More traditional than what I usually see from you.

Thanks, I think it falls under this direction I'm going in called Tactical/Traditional.

Jerry Fisk says that every maker should keep and carry one of their own knives for a year, every year. Especially if it's a new design.

Since you're in the knife business, I think it only makes sense that you would carry your own work. At the very least, it could serve as advertising.

A knife maker who doesn't carry and use his own knives is like a cook who won't eat his own food. ;)

Nice work on the knife .

Tactical/Traditional= Tradactical :D

Is all that Tradactical type stuff a campfire? Cuz I want S'more!!

Nice work, you gonna jimp it? And btw, if I was going to hell 1084 would be just fine for whatever i needed to chop, mangle, stab, etc. but 1070 maybe a bit bit better? Good luck with that bad boy!

Or tactiditional

Surprisingly easy. I'm carrying like this to prevent accidental concealment. Draws into a pikal, which works for me!

Avoiding concealment makes sense. Just noticed you're in Cali.

Just tried that with my ZT0121, and it actually is easier than it looks. Might have to start giving it more of a shot when I'm not at work.

If it's purely for combat, I'd let it rust. ;)

I don't carry this one, but is easily grabbed from my bed.

I'm a fickle bastard... I made another that I like better. Gonna redo the finish and flip the first one for a reduced price. I'm digging the compound grind on the new one way more.

Pfffft. What's THAT guy know?

As an aside, if that guy is done carrying his new design for a year, I'd like to buy it "user grade" off him for a song.

I like the new one too, CM. Looks deployment ready for sure.
