I think it's funny how people are saying things like "When I get my BK-16, ..." and I am just sitting there thing "WHAT ABOUT THE BK-17?!?!?!?! :grumpy:"

The 17 is my favorite Tweener so far, but I haven't got either the FFG 16 or the 15 yet. Both of them should be arriving in the mail tomorrow.

While I love the clip points, I also understand why everyone seems to want the 16. This is the knife that Ethan spent so many years designing, and it has a mythos surrounding it that makes it the top choice for a first Tweener. The saber-ground 16 was my first Tweener, too. And it is awesome. But one thing it shares with the 17 is that the saber-ground blade isn't as slicy as an FFG blade would be. I think this is one of the biggest reasons why the bushcrafters prefer the 16 to the 17. I'll find out tomorrow if the 16 really is better.

I almost always prefer a drop point to a clip point, however I think I would personally prefer the 17 over the 16.

People have their own reason for what they like and don't like, I was thinking 17 over 16 just because I generally prefer a keen tip and the 16 looks a bit blunt to me.

With all due respect to Ethan....if I could only have one Short it would be a 17. I love mine, just a great style and look. The FFG16 is a slightly better slicer...and it is a great bushcrafty knife....but I would still pick the 17 every time. I have barely had the 17 out of my sight since I got it.

A number of people keep saying things along the same line.... so WHAT exactly is it that you like better?

I've almost bought the 17 several times, but I already have the 16 and everyone seems to agree it's a better cutter/ slicer.

Is it just the aesthetics? The clip point?

It's hard to define. Mainly just style. I love a clip point, and I knew as soon as I saw the 17 way back in the proto pics I would have one.

I also like a ''pointy'' point, just more utility IMO. And the 17 willget sharp, I mainly do more cutting then slicing anyways, so the 17's extra bulk don't matter to me. I also kinda like a lil meat to my knives....for a ''jack-of-all-trades'' blade.

I wouldn't feel bad at all about having the 16...if I had never seen a 17.

Sorry, ya'll are wrong. The 15 is most definitely where it's at. :D

the 17 is the Sabre 16 with a clip cut in, and a very pretty clip at that.

I wouldn't own another sabre16 if one was given to me.

The sabre16 was clunky, and very dull tipped. The 17 is a sabre, but has a ''feel'' to it, balanced and nimble in the hand, the sabre16 was like a dead-weight in the hand. The decision to go with FFG on the 16 was genius....the sabre16 IMO would have never caught on.

I like the 15 MrN8....but it just aint my style, I think it wil be very useful during deer season to process/butcher the meat for the freezer, and that's about the only way I see myself using it. ''World's Best Steak Knife'' LOL

I wish my internet out here wasn't so slow...this thread needs more 17 pron! But it would take forever to get to my PB account from here.

Mountain Mike get the 14! It's an awesome edc. I don't have a tweener yet but my 14 goes everywhere with me.

I was all set to buy a BK14 for my next purchase, but the 17 has been calling me.

14 is easy to pack anywhere..... 17 is just so sexy with that clip point......if only there were some way to combine those attributes in one knife...... ;) if only....

lalalalala, nothin to see here folks....

I've got a few pics of my 17. I really need to take some more. Since these pics were taken I've convexed the edge. It is a mean slicer now. With the factory edge, I could barely slice tomatoes with it without smashing them. Now it does the job no problem.
