I think my dragonfly salt is broken! :(

Glad you got it sorted.

There should be a "D" in the pivot hole.

No sir. The pivot has a d-shape, but the holes are completely round, thus the spinning. Here's a photo. No deformation. They are just drilled round. I looked around on the internet at some disassembled endura pics and saw that the pivot holes in the liners are d-shaped. Whats supposed to be d-shaped on the salt knives, the whole in the frn? Am I missing something?

Hi Gringo,

I just took mine apart and I've got a flat on the bottom of the front side scale. It's molded into the plstic which means they all start out the same.

Don't know what happened to yours? I'ved seen some stripped out on Squeaks, but the flat was too small, so we changed the mold. We haven't seen one on a D'fly salt yet. Yours is the first.

Wow, that's weird. Mine certainly doesn't look like it ever had a flat spot. It's perfectly round. I had never tried to adjust the pivot before either.

My guess was that somehow mine mistakenly ended up with the old scales from the pinned version. (Which im guessing maybe didnt have the flat side on the pivot hole?) I dunno. I've got it screwed together and it works fine, it's just a bit of a pain having to torque the blade in order to get enough resistance to adjust it. I'll live. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

NICE. Not a spec of rust in any of the internals (some good gunk though :p). Well, maybe they were due for a cleaning anyways. Glad you got it worked out.

Thanks for the tip Squashfan, I had the same problem Surfingringo had with my FRN BRG ZDP-189 Dragonfly - I've been wanting to swap out the VG10 blade on my G10 handled 'fly with the ZDP off the FRN but had the spinning pivot issue. On the FRN BRG scales on mine the pivot holes are round too, the tensioning on the spine method works!

Love the Dragonfly, it's an awesome little big knife!

Great posts too Surfingringo! Thanks for sharing!

mine too. i disassemble my dragonfly salt to clean it and now i cannot make it tighter or loose. I think the 'D' shaped pivot entrance on the FRN ( to catch the pivot screws so it wouldnot rotate ) chipped or lose it's shape. sorry it is hard for me to say what i meant in english...:)

and spyderco is very far away from my country.

Did you try squashfans tip for tightening it? We're u able to understand what he suggested? It worked well for me. I tightened mine up pretty good a month ago and it has been fine ever since.

Lance thanks for making this post and squashfan thanks for easy fix, needed to loosen my pivot and it worked perfect.

What is the date code on you guys knives with the free spinning pivot? Mine in 11/12 and it doesn't have and flat on either side scale.
