Hey all, my name is Jeff McCray, i have been a knife nut all my life. I have always loved the combad/survival blades! It was'nt until 5 years ago that i got into hunting with archery equipment which brought up the hunting knives i now love.

I have been making knives for two years or so, one at a time and few and far between but i do all my own work, i dont buy pre-shaped guards or anything like that. I also do my own heat treating, which, is easy due to the fact that i prefer the high carbon steels and 5160. I have forged only 5 knives, the rest have been stock removal. I have a nice forge built to make damascus but due to a recent shoulder injury/surgery, i have'nt been able to use it yet. I cannot wait to make damascus!!!!

I am very impressed with this site so far... I hope to enjoy this as my second home...

Thanks
Jeff McCray

Welcome to the fray, Jeff. Just jump right in.
All good folks here, well except Indian George, haven't got him completely house broken yet. :D

Welcome to the BF.

Aside: What is it this week with all the new introductions. Glad to have you all onboard. I would say it is because school is out, but these folks seem to be over 21 and employed.

Heh, maybe it's just that the summer brings certain events -- like the Folklife Festival in D.C. -- that makes people more eager to join the club of bad-asses shaping metal.

knifemaking and bowhunting....yes....I would agree. Welcome indeed!

May want to review the "Mad Dog" title, though.....the guy who has "laid claim" to it is...well, you may want to create something distinct for yourself. :thumbup
