I am glad to hear that your mate is ok. A 45 through the leg is no joke!

After years of carrying a cocked and locked 1911 I went back to carrying a Glock in a Raven Concealment Phantom IWB holster because of the additional safety.

Same gun, same holster for everyday SD carry is very good advice.

I could've written this word for word! Carry it, run matches with it, carry it - same gun, same rig, every day...

Thanks for sharing Tex, glad you're ok! p.s. There are two kinds of people in this world, those that have ND'd, and those that will (or have, then lie(d) about it...) Mine was aimed fire into a bedroom wall with a twice checked empty gun...that wasn't.

mommas got a P22,, its a neat little gun. your jeep seat probably made it out alive?

and Kudos to Tex for this vid. that took some balls, and fo sho hurt like hell!

Mine was at the range, wintertime: Shooting one side of a wall and when changing grips to shoot out the other side of the wall, my grip slipped......
This was my MP5 9mm (full auto service-gun), did the GIGANTIC IDIOT thing, tried to grab it, got hold of the trigger...
One round in the gravel and ice, about one inch from my foot.
NEVER TRY TO CATCH A FALLING GUN (or knife for that matter)
Luckily noone was injured, but that could have been a bad one for sure.

Damn - That had to hurt - Glad he missed the bones and feet

A good reminder to all who shoot - no doubt!

He needs to throw those stupid retention holsters in the trash. How many people need to shoot themselves to realize buttons are bad. Especially when they guide your finger onto the trigger

Absolutely agree. 100%.

Useful video to watch, though. I never want to do that to myself.

Dang, that's no joke. Tex is a good guy to want to share. Stay aware and stay alive. He was very lucky.

Never had a ND myself, but one of my co-workers had one with MY service pistol !

The guns we carry at work are property of the firm and we don't have a personal one. So at the beginning of each shift we take one out of the gunsafe at work and at the end we turn it back in,,, but as it happens, humans are lazy creatures, so we used to hand the guns over to eachother at each shift-change,,,

Back in the days there were still a lot of officers working with Smith&Wesson revolvers instead of the Glock 19's we have now,,,

One time at the end of my shift, I went to the central controlroom and put my emptied and cleared G19 in its box with the full magazine next to it on the table instead of the gunsafe,,, so my replacement, who was en route, could grab it and start his shift right away,,, another co-worker was present in the central controlroom, so the box wasn't unattended,,,

Unfortunately that co-worker, who was used to working with a revolver, but had heard that everyone had to switch to pistol in the near future, decided he wanted to check out the G19,,,,

You can guess what happened next, right,,, :foot:

He inserted the full magazine, racked the slide, took the magazine back out and wanted to place the G19 back into its box,,,, but it wouldn't fit 'cause the trigger was in cocked position of course,,, thinking the pistol was empty (no magazine in the gun, so no bullets, right ?!.... wrong !),,, he aimed at the wall and pulled the trigger to make a dry-shot,,,, BLAMMO ! :o

(to make things worse, another co-worker had arrived and sat at the same table across him,,, so he missed this guy by like a foot or something :eek::eek: )

That particular co-worker is no longer working armed jobs and I got to go and get my arse handed to me by my boss for leaving the pistol on the table and not putting it in the gunsafe,,,

(I even got suspended for a few days, but my direct superior arranged it that those days fell in my holliday period so I didn't loose any pay :p )

Needless to say, I'm not making that same mistake twice,,, :D

Wow! Hope he gets well soon!

If nothing else, this will teach someone to use a proper holster!
