We just returned from vacation. On the way home we spotted Ofelia's Knife City on I-40 near Holbrook, AZ. For a shop out in the middle of nowhere, I must say I was impressed! She has a little of everything on display. I was ogling some really nice CRK and Benchmade knives. I could have spent hours in there, but we were short on time and my wife was nagging at me to get back on the road again. My wife bought me a Griptillian for my birthday. :D I think she was trying to pacify me so I'd leave peaceably. :p.

Anyway, if you're ever in the area, it's worth stopping for a look.

lol i like that! my mother in law drove by there the other day...i might stop in, what were the prices like?

The marked prices are high, but she's willing to deal. And I must say that she really knows her knives. She can flick open a knife as well as anyone I've seen. :)

guess i can look, I'm flying into phoenix then driving back to KS from there up I-40.

I drive by there often and I'm always tempted to stop but in too much of a hurry. Perhaps next time I'll do it.

Come on Mack! Stop and smell the carbon. If you truly were a Pro Tourist, you would have stopped. :D

I'm always scared of small parking lots. It's too easy to get stuck if I'm in a hurry in a 75 foot long truck that turns like the Queen Mary. I often go to SMKW, does that make up for it?

All right,

I'll let you off easy this time. :p

i love smkw,my gf lives about 5 minutes from there.when i move up there in a few months, itll be my regular haunt.ive seen ofelias before when i was on the road but ive never stopped there.think ill give her a visit next time im passing thru.hey, you oughta get a discount for advertising for her! ; )

Saw the signs for Ofelia's last time we were coming back from CA. All the kids were asleep, and my wife wouldn't let me stop, for fear of waking the noisy little munchkins. Oh, well. Maybe next time through.

How can you drive past a knife shop and not stop in? I don't understand this logic. If I was on the way to the hospital with a burst appendix, I would take time to look around inside.

:D

I've only been to three in my area, lots of fun to browse. Prices can be a little high, but it's always neat to find one in your "back yard".

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I stopped by this knife shop on the way back from the Grand Canyon. I had to pull in to a place called "knife city" and it's literally in the middle of nowhere. UNFORTUNATELY, I had left AZ at 5:00 a.m. local time, which had me crossing paths w/ this place b/f opening time. I had to ogle through the windows at a darkened store. From the outside, it looked very nice - for any location. Much less the middle of nowhere. We drove from the Grand Canyon to San Antonio in one shot so we weren't much in the mood for a long stop.

If it were me, when I got home I would have went online and ordered some knives to fill the void of not being able to buy something there. :D

Congrats on the new Griptillian!
Completely off topic, but does anyone else see the old woman's face in the clouds in the top left corner of the pic? >.<
