seems im having trouble finding the perfect size though..

i have a benchmade 550, 555 and a spyderco delica

the 550 is slightly too large for the sheeple, and the 555 is way to small for my mitts... the delica is also a little too small, but an endura... forget that

so anyways..

im liking the Strider SnG and the Spyderco Mini Manix... both are about the size of the 550, if not slightly smaller

any other bombproof knives i should look at.. whats your opinion on those knives? i want a knife that is edc size, but suitable for anything i can put it against... i want to use it for everyday things and work as well.. i wont punish it, but i want to know i can if i want.. i want to know it could outlast me.

I carry a Zero Tolerance ZT 0200 as one of my 2 EDC's (my other EDC is a Kershaw Mini-Cyclone), and that ZT 0200 IS a bomb-proof folder!...However, I'm pretty sure that it's alittle larger and heavier than what you're looking for.:D.

Glockman is correct about the ZT's. Now if you could find a "baby" ZT0200 for sale......................;):D

How about a small Sebenza? It's got a 3" blade, 4" handle, is a quiet, unobtrusive gray, with a simple handle shape. It's also got tough materials and the tightest tolerances of any factory knife for durability and smooth function. If you check the Exchange forums here, you should be able to pick one up for a price within your budget. And they will outlast you.

The SnG is a bit more aggressive a design, but otherwise is fairly light for its size and is also very tough.

Caution, hyperbole ahead.

If you want one that you could likely literally duct tape to a bomb, and then recover it and actually use it, post explosion, after the entire bomb casing turned into shrapnel, then I'd suggest a Bradley Alias II. The one I have, I'm quickly finding out, is tough as nails.

Comes in small (II) and less small (I):

I don't know if they make small folders, possibly not, but noss4 tested a knife by a company called Scrap Yard, and well, that thing's about as bombproof as a piece of kryptonite.

the zt isnt legal for me in NJ, the assisted opening specifically...

i considered a sebenza but its not my style... i like a more tactical type like a strider

im going to take a glance at the bradley, but again its designed more like a sebenza

....if i could find a good price on a sng id scoop it quick probably...i think i might order a mini manix and get a feel for it too

There is currently a Buck Strider redone in a frame lock just like the SnG only with the Buck blade for about half what you would pay for a Strider if it means anything to you.

Well scratch that. I see now that it was withdrawn.

The SnG is a fine folder but there are other fine folders too that are good.

The HK 14205 or 14200 are two very hardy healthy get after knives by BenchMade and so is the Buck Mayo TNT in the larger size in S30V.

From the sounds of things you like the choil in the SnG that allows a choke up of the grip. That is not seen as often as I'd like personally and its probably one of the main things I like about the SnG and why I favor it and place it in my top five for frame lock picks. Overall these are darn fine users but if the size is a bit big the PT might be something to look at also.

I just wanted to point out, in case you didn't already know --

Since you mention the mini Manix as a possibility, don't hesitate too long if you want one, as they are on the Spyderco 2007 Discontinued list. They'll be hard to find and possibly selling at inflated prices before too long.

to str: do you have a link? id check it out

to long beach: your saying the mini is big? from the specs ive seen i think it would be the perfect size for me

I edited that out. It seems bigger in the hand than the specs would indicate, but I don't want to in any way discourage you. I think it's one of the best designed production folders of all time. I'd just suggest that you hold one in person before buying it, in case the size is an issue.

I'm glad assisted opening is still legal for me in New Jersey. :)

The ZT 0200 is not an assisted opener although the 0300 is.

soon for me too... need to goto the academy first lol

..i think im going to get a sng...if i can find one.... and then go from there.. its what i really want

Extrema Ratio RAO is BOMBproof, however is not small and costs a bit too. I carry a Manix the full size version, which is not small but probably the most stout for the money.

I have an aversion to all things pricey (read I am cheap) so the Reeves or Striders don't get my vote. All told I will have to throw in on on the Bradleys they are hell built for stout and down right pretty to boot.

I would try to find an SnG to handle. I was lured in by the finger choil, warranty and hype, but was let down by the fit and finish for the price, and the real deal breaker was that the butt of the handle was outlandishly uncomfortable in my hands. Sure the gun stock thing may look neat, but it doesn't exactly melt into the palm of your hand.

i wish that was as easy as saying it.... i wouldn't have bought any of my knives so far :(

im going to put everything for sale to try to fund "the keeper"
