Next knfie is guna be a Dodo.

One thing though, it has GOT to be Plain edge, and Blue G-10. :D

The usual suspects (888, New Graham, knives plus) dont have it, or only have the black G-10 Serated version.

i did a search and found two stores that still have them: 1 Stop Knife Shop, and Smokey Mountain Knife Works.

I would buy it from Smokey mountain, but they are almost $8 more expensive than 1 Stop.

Is 1 Stop a reputable dealer, Or should I pony up the extra $$ to get it from Smokey?

Nice selection of knives, some hard to find. I own a dodo like the one you're searching for and had to buy another for my girl as she wouldn't leave mine alone. Great knife, very comfortable in the hand and pocket.

good luck
Dan

No offence man, but you just registered and posted for the sole purpose of pointing me to a store with a lack-luster appearence.

I want sugestions, not SPAM.

The john f jensen site is a very well-known site to Spyderco fanatics. It may be "lackluster" to you, but many have found it a great resource for hard to get Spydies.

trooper,

No, I didn't "just register and post" as you indicated in your response. I posted in an attempt to help you find the knife you're looking for at a reasonable price. My apologies to you for 1) trying to help, 2) being supportive of the dodo choice, and 3) having my first post in a thread you started. No worries. You should search for a site that has the 'appearance' you're looking for, good luck finding the knife even at a reasonable price.:jerkit:
My post was tring to be informational and helpful, it was not spam. :(

have a nice day

Hey, I have one of those!

I'll sell it to you...

...for One Hundred MILLION DOLLARS!! Muahahahahahaaaa! ;)

Just kidding. No, sorry, I'm not offering mine for sale, but I will tell you this:

Is 1 Stop a reputable dealer, Or should I pony up the extra $$ to get it from Smokey?

I bought from them once, got myself a titanium spork (which my girlfriend has lost) and a Victorinox Trailmaster, and I considered there to be no difficulties in the transaction, and the shipping was prompt, and the price was what I considered fair. Other than that, I don't know what you'd need to know. I believe they're selling quality name-brand merchandise like any other online knife store. Knifecenter is also a good one (though they may not have the Dodo, I haven't checked), but sometimes their price is a few bucks higher than others'.

Good luck on your search.
The Dodo is a great knife -- I just wish it had a conventionally shaped blade.

Actually, JFJ is a legitimate suggestion. They stock only discontinued Spyders, and for very reasonable prices.

No need to jump all over the guy trying to help you.

Thanks for this writing smcfalls13  and thanks for the "courage" of hornshwangler  as new member to help a so called old member who wants something.

Hope that mr.trooper will find his blue Dodo plain soon and on a convenient place.

No problem. I was actually going to recommend the same dealer, so I had to back up the new guy.

Welcome to Bladeforums by the way hornshwangler.

If I didn't already know John F. Jensen as a valuable resource for hard to find discontinued spydies I'd thank the person graciously for pointing me to his website. I do love my dodos, well worth the search. Too bad more people didn't buy them before they became endangered, that's how it works I guess.

Maybe I should consult my dictionary...mrtrooper's definition is confusing me. Lackluster appears to mean "STORE THAT HAS 3 OF THE EXACT ITEM THAT I'M LOOKING FOR, AT A GOOD PRICE."

No offence (sic), mrtrooper, but you put your foot in your mouth there. :foot:

smcfalls13 & Peter1960,

Thanks and I guess its good to be here  I have purchased a number of knives from jfj, great guy to buy discontinued spydies from. BTW, if his site is in error and you purchase something that's shown to be in stock (but isn't) he'll refund your $$$ and give you an additional 10% off any other knife in stock.

Thanks again
Dan

No harm done. I don't know much about Spydies either, just where to get them inexpensively:p

And we're like locusts in the summer, we're everywhere:cool:

Try Ron at www.beckscutlery.com . Give him a call(800-397-3830) or drop him an email. It won't be on the website.
Good luck on your search. I have a plain edge black handled one, great little knife, and the S30V just cuts and cuts.

*Update*

I placed an order with 1 Stop Knife Shop, as there was no indication that they were out of stock. I called to have them fix an error in my billing information, and found out that the Dodo is on back order, so i cancled my order. The lady I spoke with was very friendly and helpfull.

I am going to place an order with John F.

*Edit*

The john F site took a dump in the middle of my browsing....Guess I will have to try again later.

*Edit again*

Problem solved, Dodo ordered. :)

Problem NOT solved.

John just informed me that their stock data was wrong, and that infact they had no Dodos, so he gave me a 10% store credit which was quite generous of him :)
