I Want a knife with a D2 blade

looking for a knife with a D2 blade, i have never used the steel and want to try it out

If you really want to see what D2 is capable of, Bob Dozier is where it's at.

Probably more then you want to spend, unless you can find a used one.

Big Mike

I found a Sears Craftsman folder at the hardware store with a D2 blade, dirt cheap. Orchard Supply Hardware, I think.

Queen Mountain Man; good knife.
Kabar Becker BK-24; good knife when you add handles and a new sheath.
Bob Dozier knives; love them. They are my favorite D2's. Higher than your budget, but worth it as far as I'm concerned. My latest and perhaps greatest is the Pro Guides. Really like this one, but it will run closer to $300. Bob has some of the smaller ones in the $225 area.

Does anyone have any experience with the small maxpedition excelsa? I was interested in it months ago but never pulled the trigger on it, looks like a good knife to me, and it's a titanium frame lock for around 100 bucks which is a bargain if you ask me

I agree with Big Mike and 22- rimfire. Save your money and pick yourself out a Dozier. Don't waste your money on any of the others. Slim Outdoorsman and Straight Personal our my favs, but they are all good.

I've picked up a couple of D2 knives this summer: a H&K 14715 combo edge; and DPX H-E-A-T. I love both, but I think the H-E-A-T will be a great knife to take to work since it has a blade that is 2.26". It has a think handle that really fills my hand, and it was just under your price limit.

I don't have personal experience with them but to plug an Aussie brand take a look at the offerings of Hardcore Hardware Australia. They make some very robust knives using coated D2. I haven't been able to find any extensive reviews but haven't heard anything bad. You might find some info on them on the Aussie forums.

The hk is too big for me, another question to stir the pot, which do you like better Benchmades s30v or their d2, because I forgot about the Ritter griptilian but that is an option as well

Preferences include:
-around 3" blade length
-Under $150
- preferred to have some sort or coating on the blade

Looking for any recommendations as well as why you recommend them, i have some in mind but im sure there are more than i can think of

Go here: http://customknife.benchmade.com/knives/

You can get any color you want, blade style, and pattern on the blade. Make it the way you want it.

If you want a fixed blade, look at Knives of Alaska.

Benchmade Adamas. It's a tank though.. And the blade might be a bit bigger than you want.

The blade is just under 4 inches, but this Benchmade Adamas model 0275 is the finest, most heavy-duty folder that I have owned. I like the manual folder, and have it in two colors...the tan one is just factory-painting over the original black. The price is about $150.
