I want a stripper!

Well, more accurately, I want someone to strip my CGFBM and give it some sort of satin finish. I really hate the coated finish, I though it would look mean when it started to wear off but it wore off way too easy and way too quick, and I hate it. I have seen some CGFBM's that have been stripped and I really like the way it looks. I saw one that Ban did, and it looked great, but from what I understand he isn't taking on mod work right now.

So who do you suggest? And pics of your stripped CGFBM are appreciated, "ghetto satin" included.

Here is a pic of it as-is:

Busse doesn't offer it on the CGFBM, because of the corrugation. Asked them first, actually.

Oh, well thats why I would have only trusted them. Funny.

You could just strip it and leave it.

Or get out some sand paper and do it yourself by hand.

The only people I would trust would be Busse.

Yeah, Busse's probably the best to stay within your warranty.
I hear good things about Nate at norcalblacktail too, but if the warranty is something you worry about, stick to Busse. I don't have any stripped Busses myself, but I'm wondering why your paint wear is on the spine at the tip instead of along the edge or the flat of the blade :p

Edit:

Oops, nevermind on that then! Well there was this other thread on the topic of stripping, too. There might be an idea for you here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/917858-Ergo-Series-coating-super-tough

Norcal learned from Ban. Don't get me wrong, both those guys have serious skill.

With that said, you could always start by stripping it. Not too hard at all.

I think you can get a doublecut finish done on it at busse, and while your at it, get some liners put on too.

I think it depends on why Busse doesn't strip the corrugated bevels. Is it because they prefer to strip by hand rather than with chemicals, and it's tough to strip within those grooves? Is it tough to give it a satin finish within those grooves? I don't think I've ever seen a double cut or satin CGFBM and the difficulties of working within those grooves might be the reason, and Busse does turn down certain modifications it might deem as not feasible or ideal for the healthiness of the blade.

Nate@norcalblacktail also has a bead blasting machine too so that's an option.

He was using a baseball bat to baton with. :) JK
Pretty close. I was using a 3" piece of hardwood, going through a seasoned piece of hardwood and got stuck on a knot. May have been made harder too by the fact that it had been sitting in my camp up in the mountains that only sees heat when someone is there to build a fire, and it had been a month or so since the last one. So internal temp of the log was somewhere around 0 Fahrenheit. Edge held up great though!

See you don't even need chemicals :D

+1 for Nate!!!

Send him an e-mail and he'll be able to tell you what he can and can't (unlikely) do.

I stripped one myself a while back. well another dog stripped it and I just kept at it with a bunch of scotch brite pads. was never fan of blue/black g10 so I sold it before I got it really pretty. but with liquid stripped and a machine of some sorts it should be pretty easy.

Sent him an inquiry, we'll see what he says. I may try to strip it myself and send it out if I can't get a good result.

Have you consider getting another mistress for fondling......... Beat and abuse this mistress lovingly?
What are you going to do after you make it all nice and pretty? Get it all scarred up.
Not saying you shouldn't do it but just something to think about.

The satin holds up to use pretty well actually. I chopped up a tree with my satin HHFSH, and I couldn't find a mark on it.

Hahahaha completely thought this thread was goin' somewhere different! Good thing it wasn't :foot:
