I want a ZT 200

I don't think that's the point. It's more a matter of matching the tool to the task. Obviously, you don't need a knife the size of an 0200 to perform office duties, for example, nor do you need to scare the sheeple unnecessarily. And clearly there's a market for lightweight folders. If you don't believe me, ask Matt Conable.

Whot? Not true!

I can always find a use for my 200 at work. The boxes I opened today didn't stand a chance. Its only big when you put it beside one of those little girly folders:D

Spyderco does make larger heavier knives, they just don't get into the crazy overbuilt area that the 0200 holds. The Starmate, Gayle Bradley etc are both pretty heavy duty.

The Spyderco Tuff is probably pretty tough, don't know how it would compare to the 0200 though. To me it seemed that the Manix 2 XL is somewhat similar in size and shape to the 0200, but lighter. I wanted a Manix 2 XL but Spyderco's popularity means you can't buy those things anymore so I am considering buying the 0200 instead. I can't find any blems on kershawguy's site so maybe I'll have to wait a little longer.

"sturdy, big folding knife"? You just described the ZT 0200 to a tee. It's one of my most comfortable knives in the hand and I love it. Other knives have come and gone from my collection but the 0200 is a constant. I'm a huge Spyderco fan as well, and while some of their 'big' knives like the Endura really don't do it for me, the ZT 0200 just fits perfectly. I'd say it's one of the best designed folder handles going round.

Great pic!

I guess it all depends on what you need a knife to accomplish around your office. For what I need a knife to accomplish around mine, an 0200 would be about as useful as a toaster. Something along the line of a CRKT Eros is really about all I require. As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I'm carrying today. And if I need something heavier duty than that, my RatManDu is in my car out in the parking lot. :)

Anyone have experience with 0200 and 0300/0301? Father in law liked the 0301 but I'm considering the 0200 because of price for his bday. For the record he has not seen the 0200 but I think he would love it.

I have had the 200 and I EDC a 303. I really liked the 200, but the only real complaint I had was the bulk in the pocket. When in the pocket it feels really thick, and for me it stuck out too much, enough to smack it into things when walking too close. The handle is amazing though, great ergos. I was thinking about buying a stonewashed 200 and add custom scales to try and solve the thickness issue that way, but now that I have the 303 I have no need for the 200. The 303 on the other hand is very flat for its size. I carry the 303 in my left pocket and my Navaja in my right EVERY DAY, and they carry comfortably. I am actually saving up for a replacement for the Navaja, I'm going to buy an Emerson CQC-15SFS for EDC, which is a good size knife (bigger than the 303). I really like the handle of the 303 too, very comfortable and ergonomic. I really like the Tiger Striped blade of the 303 as well, it hides the wear very well. Also, I favor the 303's S30V over the 200's 154cm.

If you're looking for recurves you should also look at the Emerson Commander and CQC-15. They're both good sized knives, they look thinner than both ZTs (so they'll carry comfortably), and they are gorgeous! The Commander is has the same blade length as the 300 but the overall length of the 200. The CQC-15 has a 3.9 inch blade (a hair less than the 200) and an overall length of 8.9, which is the biggest of the four knives. Their cost is right in between the ZTs, Around $170 for the CQC-15 and around $180 for the Commander. And they also come in stonewashed, which is my preference because it handles the wear and tear better than most coated blades. And if weight is an issue the ZTs weigh in at 7.8 (200) and 8.1 (300), while the Emersons weigh in at 4.8 (CQC-15) and 4.9 (Commander) ounces. The Emersons also have the Wave feature. Now just so you know, I am not an Emerson fan boy or anything like that, in fact, Zero Tolerance is my FAVORITE knife brand. I don't even own and Emerson yet.

I will say this about ZT though, there is nothing like holding one of their tank like knives in your hands for the first time and wanting to cut, chop, and stab everything around you... or was that just me?:D I also like that the ZTs have four way pocket clips, I wish EVERY knife had that. Emerson has only right hand tip up carry, but they will drill and tap left hand holes if you send them your knife.

I hoped this helped. If you have any questions for me you can email me if you'd like. ares1307@live.com

Good Luck with you choice. I'm sure whichever knife you pick will be perfect.
