I want an H.I. Kerambit

Yes!!!! I want one also. Looks like a real practical design - a MUST have for anyone with terminal H.I.K.V.........LOL!!!!:D

I did a search for pictures but not much out there. Maybe Steely_Gunz can post pictures of his again for us.....

Here's mine, shown between a Valiant model and a Schrade LB-7 for size comparison.

Sorry these pics are pretty crappy. I snapped them really quick. My natural light ducked behind a cloud, so I'm sorry they look so gloomy.

This is a shot of my 3 non-khuk brutes for size comparison. From top to bottom Judge, Tooth, and Moses. Obviously, the sheath for Moses is a fine example of Dan's work. The two ugly ones are the labor or yours truely. Not pretty, but they'll hold together.

Here's a closer shot of the 'bit. Sorry i moved and didn't get the whole ring in the shot. The kerambit is an awesome "little" knife:)

Hey, when you get sick of that ugly antler handled kerambit, shoot me an email, I'll take it off your hands, cheap :p ;)

Sweet!

Here is how it goes. I seem to be (not on purpose) a collector of purely functional knives. Almost every knife I own is a practical tool or weapon. I have known about the Kerambit style for a while now, but only after looking for next knife, while borwsing on Dan's website, did I learn of the fact that Himalayan Imports made a Kerambit.

I saw the pic of it here on the very bottom right: http://www.kosterknives.com/sheaths.htm depicting his custom sheath for it.

That is exactly what I want. An HI Kerambit, with a wood handle just like that one. I think I might even order one of Dan's sheaths for it. It is one sweet setup.

The way I see it, HI has ruined all 'factory' knives for me - wall hangers and otherwise. I just can't picture buying anything not handmade, no matter how good a tool it may be - they just seem lifeless and flat to me now.

I don't think that I'm any worse off, though.

Quick question... is the HI Kerambit double edged?

Bandit the HI 'bit has a false edge that ranges from pretty sharp, to somewhat of an edge, to pretty flat. My 'bit came in with a sort of sharp false edge that I was able to sharpen up pretty well. Then i sent it off to Dan for a custom sheath, and it came back with a very sharp false edge.

Sharp or not, the false edge is going to help with point penetration. I like my FE sharp for a scoring edge or to take the abuses i would not want to subject my primary edge to.

Jake those pics are sweet. And I like both kermabits above. I'm on the list for one now.

I e-mailed Yangdu about one as well...I have wanted one since I laid eyes on one!!:D

Yea I want a woodhandled one as well...But that horn one is wayyyy to ugly for you to have...I will take it off your hands<~~~helpful!

Steely...Nothing wrong with using rivets instead of stitching for a sheath...Most of the gun holster prototypes are held together using rivets until I get the design "just right"...yea I am to lazy to stitch until I have it the way I want it (yea even belts!):o

Great pictures all.....Thanks :D

I emailed Yangdu as well for a wood handled Kerambit (Neem or Satisal)

I think we might have flooded her box. She has informed me that they are not in stock. But it is ok, I am patient.

*sits back and twidles thumbs waiting for a DOTD with a wood handled Kerambit*

I wish we could still post about sales on the Exchange here! I sold one a while back. It was one of the very first 6 or so that was made, with deep fullers and a larger than "normal" handle ring. It was satisal.

That was one of those sales where I had sellers remorse afterwards because the first ones had deeper more detailed fullers than what evolved in the second and third generations. It also had a perfect flawless bolster with no brazing marks. I sold it for the price the last few had sold for, so took about a $30 loss on it, but was trying to get Salyan monies!

I sold it to a nice guy in NYC. I still kept a couple of others. The newer slightly smaller rings are more practical. I have one in some kind of USA wood that Uncle Bill sold me that has developed a small crack in one panel that needs to be refinished, and have others in horn and antler. Their only real limitation is the sheath, and Dan has got replacement sheaths for these down perfectly, so I may be sending one to him for a new molded sheath.

Rio Jim had a beautiful karambit made based on the HI model from a knifemaker in AZ, along with a custom kydex sheath. It was really nice work and he showed it to us at the SWKK earlier this year.

Seems like Jim had a kydex scabbard made for it didn't he, I can't recall whether the knife maker made it or someone else do you?
