I don't want one of the Yugo ones. If someone has one thats in good condition and doesn't jam, let me know.

By the way, I trade knives for guns... just so everybody knows that. ;)

i've got one i bought new a while back. good stock with all the tools and hasnt had a lot of rounds though it yet. its never jammed up on me...will try to put some pics up on here tomorrow if your interested.. :)

Why dont you want a Yugo? They're great guns, just a bit on the heavy side. Try looking for a Tula Russian one, those are the best out there you can buy IMO.

I love my Yugo SKS. Accurate, even though the stock is short.

I'm still kicking myself for selling my Russki right before the price on them went through the roof.
I would love to have another SKS - if I could find one for a reasonable price.

I've owned a couple - this design has IMO the very worst trigger of anything I've ever shot. My AK's aren't great by any means but lots better than these things are.My question would be - are the triggers ALL despicable or did some nations come up with something better in terms of trigger pull on their SKS's ?

My pa has two chinease ones. I never noticed that the triggers were bad or anything.

I am actually very good with them. Something about the hooded front post, and notch rear just points natural to me.

When I think of how much we got those for, I am kicking my self for not picking a couple up for my self. (Technically one of my dad's is for me when he passes it on).

Never had a misfire or jam with the one we have opened. The quality of the stocks is much better than the later, pricier versions.

AIM Surplus has Romanians in stock. these are chrome lined unlike anything Yugo. the lack of chrome lined bores on rifles where most of the ammunition is corrosive is probably why many people don't want Yugos

buuut the current prices on SKS rifles that used to sell for well under a hundred bucks are just silly at the moment.

i wish i'd bought a truck full of ruskies back in the day.

i'm in the middle of building an AR in 5.45x39. :D

if someone is interested in trading, i've got a match grade M1A, or a HK91 with a PSG-1 trigger and grip, plus an MSG90 stock, and a nice scope and mount PLUS the original parts and other goodies, OR a Portuguese G3S made under license from HK which has green furniture and nice parkerizing then let me know. both have wide forends, all steel NATO bipods and Tac-Latches.

what are you comparing the triggers to?

many modern production guns have "lawyer proof triggers"

this includes Remington 700s, Ruger 10-22s, etc.

nit then my Kimber SVT has a very nice trigger for a modern rifle, but my Hammerli 505 has a 4oz trigger and no safety. it's very nice.

but many people simply don't get a chance to shoot anything with a nice trigger anymore. they know the mediocre stuff that the factories sell... which is like comparing a mass produced Buck 119 to one of Andy's knives. both get the job done, but one feels better, looks better and does several other things better... it's just not as easy to find or as cheap.

SKS triggers are decent enough for a battle rifle, but cleaning the trigger pull up is much easier on the G2 style triggers we're saddled with on AKs.
The trigger on my GP75 is nice and smooth after a few minutes with a diamond hone and a kratex wheel in my Dremel.

I still got an SKS that I bought back in 1993. I have never fired it and it still is packed in the cosmoline. Its the Chinese version. The only reason I have never fired it is because I dont want to get involved in cleaning out all of that Cosmoline. It has all matching numbers. I am lucky to have it. Im not getting rid of it.

Firstly, the weight of the Yugo is what is deterring me. Why more weight? On a carbine? Dunno.

are you looking to buy or trade?

Either.

Definitely interested.

I have two Russian Tula Arsenal SKS's and both have pretty nice triggers for a battle rifle. There used to be a a guy that would sell you a tuned Russian trigger group as a repalcement, but I don't remember where I saw that.

If you can find a Russian for a decent price, (sub $350) get it.

they have the grenade launcher gizmo on the muzzle. IIRC, it's just pinned on and can be removed. that's probably where all the extra weight is.

check this out and then you'll REALLY want an SKS, yugo or otherwise! I am waiting on mine for my 16" bbl paratrooper that takes AK mags, ooh what fun . . . .
