I want more knives but I just can't justify the cost

Why not just get one or two on that list, the ones that you really want the most? ;)

Heh, because I can never really decide which one I want the most either :P

Watch the exchange forum, (for sale production individual) take your time and you will make a good buy on knives you "want". An example, not too long ago a user Spyderco Gayle Bradley sold for $60. Compile a list be patient and you will own and experience some great knives.

Holy cow, $60? I've been wanting a Gayle Bradley for a long time, too bad I missed that.

If you enjoy knives and would like to buy them and try them out, do it.
As long as everything that comes first is taken care of and you can, get yourself more knives.
Do I NEED more than 1 or 2 knives? No.
Do I NEED a knife worth more than $100? No.
Do I have them? Yes.
Why do I have them? Because I like them and enjoy them.
As long as you like them and enjoy them that's the only reason you'll ever need.

The way I look at it is this...
Yes, I can spend the money on something else, like a movie, go out to dinner, buy other little things I don't need, something fleeting. OR I can spend the money on a knife I like and enjoy it for a long time, knowing it's gonna be there for me to love and enjoy and it will last, versus something else that gives me a good feeling, but is fleeting and is only a good feeling for an hour.

I say buy them. No one around me understands why I spend so much time and money on my knives. It's simple. I like them, a lot. I thoroughly enjoy them. They make me happy. So where's the problem? I could have ate junk food for a week instead, but that's not worth it to me.

If it's worth it to you and you know you'll like and enjoy the knives, I don't see an issue with buying some.

+ 1 on this. I couldn't have said it any better. Knives are one of my favorite hobbies and I really enjoy buying and edc'ing a new one. I'm on a quest to find the perfect one for me.

I'm working real hard right now but there is no money to be made in my profession right now. I haven't had an income in over 18 months. I see a lot of knives I want to buy but I have no money. I have to sell or trade something else to get a new knife, or I do without. I keep hoping that the future will be better.

I'm in the same boat, KennyB. There's a bunch of knives that I really want right now, but just can't justify buying, with money being as tight as it is right now.

ZT 777
ZT 560
2012 Traditional Forum knife (I promised I'd buy 2, but I'll be lucky if I can afford 1)
Spyderco Yojimbo 2
Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Spyderco Street Beat
Spyderco Hawk Salt
Queen Country Cousin

Just to name a few...

I don't need the ZT knives, nor the PM2, because I really don't carry a modern folder much these days, and I have several I can use instead.. Well, I do, a Spyderco Endura Wave SE, but that's a self defense knife. I don't really need the Yojimbo 2, as I already have an original Yojimbo, and never carry that. I don't need the Hawk Salt, as I already have 2 Tasman Salts (one brand new), and I don't really need the Queen, as I already have 2 other sodbusters. The only one I can really justify buying is the Street Beat, as it fills a role that currently isn't filled. But even then, it's not a matter of "need", as I'm getting on fine without it.

Plus, I want to get a new digital camera, and a Google Nexus 7, and those will probably take priority over any extra knives.

I think it depends on the individual.

I have no other hobbies other than my gun collection, so when I purchase knives they are normally considered my Bday, xmas etc. Sometimes I sell a gun to fund knives and sometimes I sell knives to purchase a gun.

It is hard to explain my passion and obsession with knives, but when I explain that is all I spend my discretionary money on it seems to make some sense to them.

Either way dont be afraid to treat yourself. As one of the posters mentioned most days you can get most of your money back out if you decide to sell.

well said, that sums it up for me.

P.S Most of the time i go out to eat it's not all that. And i look at the bill and say i could have had a sale knife for that. But i have to remember my family come first.

If you don't need a knife, why consider buying another knife?
Guys, am I right ;)

Knife collecting is a hobby, but building a good life needs to come before pursuing a hobby. A lot of people don't realize that and it puts their life to shit.

To me, the pursuit of hobbies is absolutely crucial to building that good life.
