I want my $200.00. You have the knives and have had them a while. You know who you are. The next post will be to tell everyone on the forums who you are. You have until 11/27/99 to get me my money.

I agree... the 4th is GREAT to deal with! I sent him a knife and had $$ in hand in 2 days. And it had to travel across most of the U.S. to get here.

It seems like I'm seeing more and more of these types of posts lately. What's happening to the trust that BF Members used to have among themselves? I used to never worry about sending a knife or money to another member.... until lately. I've also been waiting on a payment for almost 2 weeks from someone that I sent a Benchmade to.

4th, I don't blame you for being upset. $200.00 is alot of money. ( I'm waiting on a much smaller amount than that) I guess it's the princple that bothers me more than the money. 4th trusted this person ...

Hopefully it was some sort of "oversite" and things will work out for ya. Wish you luck buddy.

I'm with 4th too! I've dealt with him and he's alright, what's more is that i'm all the way in ASIA! Shame on you whoever you are!
And i think that we; BF forumites should UNITE and not put each other down! This IS what this whole forum concept is all about! If YOU are not serious in what you like and believe in, then you might as well not join in the first place!
How would YOU feel if this kind of transaction happens to you? Think about it!
For $50, i take it as a lesson learned but $200? I'd get myself a new knife!
 
I'm sure that the4th is every bit the fine fellow that people here say he is; if I could punch out the guy who ripped him off, then I'd do so.

But this <EM>isn't</EM> the Threaten to Report You forum; if Mike and Spark want such a forum, then by all means let's see it created. This forum is ostensibly here to <EM>inform</EM> the reader<U>s</U> about good, bad, and ugly deals and dealers.

I'll vouch for the 4th. If he chose this method as a first warning then that's fine by me.
I have a deal ready to go thru right now, but the guy has a PO Box number and I'm not sure I want to send my money. I've had many successful trades and purchases on the forum but there are always a few who think that they can rip the rest of us off.
4th, if you need any help tracking down this nefarious party, I'm at your disposal.

The closest I ever came to getting ripped off was with a little weasle over some computer parts. I promptly let him know that 8 hours wasn't too far for me to drive.

Hey Athanatos - here are a couple of ideas for you:

1. Pop off an e-mail to Mike and Spark complaining about this gross misuse (in your opinion) of this forum. Ask them to swiftly apply justice and close this thread. Beg that they threaten to yank the4th's posting priveleges if such a misdeed ever happens again.

2. Look back over the past year's worth of posts and see that there have been quite a few posts of this nature. Realize that this might actually be the preferred method of completing the deal instead of waiting until you get stiffed and then having to ruin the reputation of the other party involved.

3. Take up a worthy cause. Invest your time and energy in something that's really important.

You are correct. I didn't have much trouble collecting in the past and I doubt I will have much trouble collecting this. I have gone after far larger amounts at much greater distances. I am just being a "gentlman" and trying to give someone the benefit of the doubt. I know that some people go out of town from time to time and don't know how to check their mail from another computer, but still may have access to the forums.
As far as the use of this forum, If I am in error, let the moderators do their job and I apologize in advance.
 
A lot of folks meet each other through these forums and get into trading with each other as a result. I see no problem in using this forum to preclude a "problem" between members.

Athanatos - what really sucks is that you jumped on the4th for what you (and only you judging from the posts) perceived as some misuse of these forums and accused him of using forumites as a "weapon" in his troubles with another party.

I find it hard to believe that you would apparently rather see someone's reputation publicly called into question rather than letting them have one last chance as the4th was inclined to do. The person in question may indeed be a dirtbag, but it was the4th's decision to make - not your's.

My suggestion for you to "report" him to Mike and Spark was an attempt to be as ridiculous as your post was.

I think that you understand that these posts aren't anything like a scientific poll of what people believe, and right and wrong isn't a simple matter of majority vote. (Otherwise, I presume that you're a big time advocate of, for example, keeping automatic knives effectively illegal.)

Please, before you make another personal attack, especially before you make another personal attack based on some <EM>invented</EM> action or <EM>conjectured</EM> desire of mine, get up, and go drink a cup of decaf or something.

Athanatos, this forum IS for hearing about the good, the bad, and the ugly things that have happened to us during our transactions. At least The4th gave this guy a chance to make things right before exposing his name publicly. The actual description of this forum may not be specific enough you, but most of us get the general idea. Really, their is no need to get into a heated discussion over this, it's rediculious. Now, let's get back to business...-AR
