Hey guys. So as you can see, I'm new to the forums (joined last month) but i've been cruising around here constantly. It was specifically the great info and attitude here in the Becker forum that got me to join in the first place. I used to think I knew a thing or two about knives, and since being on the forums I've realized I knew exactly that...a thing, or two.
I originally was just going to do a little research to find a decent knife that I could use for backpacking and camping. Well a couple weeks into being a forum member, I placed an order for a BK7, an EsKabar, a Recon 1 tanto, a CS machete, Lansky sharpening kit, a few pocket sharpeners and some little odds and ends. The last time I bought a (non-kitchen) knife was about 7 or 8 years ago, and it was a 15$ special from House of Knives, so putting in an order for nearly 250$ worth of knives was a bit of a jump for me (but a sound investment in quality, I'm sure). In fact, I already have another order planned out, and am trying to restrain myself from placing it before my first order even gets here lol.
Here's the thing though. I had heard good things about Knifecenter.com, and did my shopping there, good prices and reportedly great customer service. Placed my order back in mid-January, and was hoping to have gotten it by now. I've emailed them, and their reply was that the BK7 was out of stock, and the manufacturer was backed up. They had no idea when the manufacturer would be sending some out, and 3 weeks later, my order still sits there, not being sent out.
Maybe I'm just too excited, and should prepare myself for a long wait, but I WANT MY BECKER! I've thought about seeing if i could upgrade to a BK9 (not even sure they have those in stock either) so that i could get my order quicker, but my heart is set on the BK7. Soooo this brings me to the question part of this rambling story. Does anyone know if the BK7 is backed up in production?, are they just not pumping them out like they used to?, or am I just in for a long, excrutiating wait?
I just want my BK7 (and the other knives too lol) so i can finally get out and go hunting for this fatwood I hear so much about lol. Apparently the 7 devours it like fat Uncle Tony at a pizza place.
