I want my knife to look like these someday...

I bought this Ulster brand new in 1961 and carried it everywhere until 2001 . It served me well when it was the only knife that I had that I would carry . I have since retired it and rarely carry it .

In 2014 I rescued these 2 old Barlows for a total of $10 and I can not even imagine what these Old Guys have been through and they are both made of Unobtanium . I do not even consider them Usable but I like them a lot .

Whenever I want to get some serious work done I get one , or both , of these 2 old Taylors Eye Witness folders out . The 2 bladed one may very well be older than 1892 and the other is newer than that , but I have no clue as to how much and it has more wear . So I am making my contribution to their wear .

Seeing Harry's old barlows reminded me of these two old beauties from England and Germany... Enos Furness barlow and A Kastor fishtail :)

Old Case 6265 Folding Hunter I carried in the Navy. Carried more than used.

How did you get the dark spots of the stag to lighten up? I assume the dark is mostly dirt that has worn off. I carry my knife almost every day, straight into my pocket with keys and such. I use it often for a worry stone. It doesn't look nearly as aged as your stepdad's knife though, and I've been carrying it for nearly five years.

Already there. I have a few knives, and pick up new ones here and there, but no matter how good the others are I can't stay away from this one. I'll carry different knives for variety, but I quickly get twitchy and end up missing the #73. At the end of the day it's back in my pocket.

This knife started out as a “natural stag”, which I’m assuming means it wasn’t burnt, but it looked pretty dark when he first got it. He has none stop carried it for a almost two years housed in his RFP. It rides with coins, keys and other miscellaneous items. He uses it come hunting season and for a ton of food prep, I’m guessing maybe because of that his knife gets washed with a little soap and water more than a regular everyday carry.

He does use the knife for its intended purpose and then some, often times in muggy hot weather where the knife gets damp with sweat and needs a little oil to restore it. Otherwise nothing has been done to age it out of the ordinary. My #73L has aged quite a bit as well, but it’s had many more years of use.

I’ll get some updated pics of it a little later.

This one belonged to my maternal grandfather. It was my daily for many years. The scales fell off, and I lost them in a move.
