I have to agree with him. Out of all the immature names he could have picked to use in a knife makers forum, he chose sexxxyboi34. Thats one of those names I would see on a site like facebook.com, myspace.com, or even an anime fan site. I know this because I'm an anime fan and have been since 9th grade but I don't advertise how much of a nerd I was or still am. Around here we like to keep things professional to some degree and using a name like sexxxyboi34 is not in any way professional. Sounds like a name that his girlfriend picked out for him when she signed him up for this site. He needs to realize that this is the real world in this forum and he needs to choose a better name so that we don't think he is 5 years old or something. Have you noticed that not one of the people with a paid membership of knife maker and above have not given him any help? Its all because of his screen name. Any of us would be willing to walk him thru the steps to change his name. I don't know how much clearer we can make this statement: if you want help and respect from us then get rid of the childish screen name. Its that simple.
I'm sure that sexxxyboi34 is much worse than PimpinSquee or The Artist Formerly Known as PimpinSquee. Give me a break. You've got myspace, right? You posted it in around the grinder. We like to keep things professional do we... you mean like actually making knives once in a while instead of just posing? If you took half the advice you give on this forum, you might be able to make a decent knife by now. How many posts do you have THIS YEAR? If you're an example of how to "get respect" around here, count me out.
Do you think I'm a 5 year old because I don't use my full name as my UN? Does it somehow reflect on my skills or advice? A "professional" isn't going to recomend people buy belt sanders and call them "grinders". A professional walks the walk instead of just attempting to talk the talk. Where are the knives, oh paid "knifemaker"? Where are the knives? Heck, as much as you know about making them, you ought to be charging for your advice.
Tell me, if people who have made 2 or 3 knives in their entire existence are the ones with "paid membership as knifemaker(s)", why should he take their advice? You paid ten bucks to change your name and get the knifemaker title and I respect you exactly 0% more than before you changed it... We won't go into the less part.
To the OP: I think your name is silly too, but I don't care. If you want some help from me, you're welcome to it. I'm not a professional, paid member like PimpinSquee, but I've made a couple knives. Jantz Supply (the guys you listed) are a fine company and I've ordered from them many times. I've never seen or used their kits, but I have heard good things.
Also check out knifekits.com Darrel Ralph is a great guy to deal with and makes nice, quality kits at a very reasonable price. I've seen his kits, even have one somewhere, they are very decent. If you manage to make two of them you'll be on par with PimpinSquee as a real, live professional maker.
