This will be my first knife from scratch. ROB and MARILYN were so kind to put up the contest that i won and I was just getting into this hobby and have since been practising and i think im up for the challenge. So far i have unpackaged the steel read some of the book .Drew up several blue prints and chose the one i like the best. The steel i recieved was a bit more than i needed and i will make a second small skinning knife I will weld on a tang for that. So the knife im making is a SASKATCHEWAN SKINNER has a slight drop on the point but has a nice wide blade. I made a copy out of maple plywood so i can make more later if its any good for design. The second is a SASKATCHEWAN BUFFALOW SKINNER. I already cut and ground and sanded to shape the buffalow . I need to know what i have to use to weld it does it have to be stainless rod or stainless flat bar that i weld to it ??? I might make it a hidden tang. I filled some but very little i have enough tools to cheat lol hey im disabled and cant do much physical movement so i have to use power tools. Here is the start of my project.
