I already own a Paramilitary 2 and a Manix 2 FFG. I'm afraid if I buy one it will wind up sitting in my drawer along with lots of other knives I've bought recently. I like the looks of the Delica and it's thin profile, but I've already got "superior" Spyderco knives. I still might get one just because they're relatively cheap and I can always resell it, but I'm wondering if any of you own both knives and which one you normally carry?

Does anyone actually prefer the Delica to the PM2 or Manix 2?

My delica's get way more pocket time than my manix 2 or para ... Its the perfect size and weight and doesn't freak anyone out ! I have a few but lately it's been my zdp spyderEdge !! Btw I wouldnt call it inferior to either of previously mentioned spydercos by any means ! It's just different ;)

I still love my delica even though I own other knives with far better steels currently i've been carrying my zdp endura...if u get the delica i suggest you get the zdp version its a friggin laser and the edge will last longer than the pm2 or manix2

I'd prefer the delica over the aforementioned knives if weight is an issue. The delica weighs like 2.5 ounces, you forget you are carrying a knife, it's just a little more comfortable i think, but i'm a minimalist and only carry one knife, some people here carry 3 or 4 so weight is not an issue for some, it depends where you stand. I'd get it if you want a good quality light weight knife, it give you another great edc option and a classic spyderco.

I don't really like the looks of a waved Delica. Would the Delica be a good rear pocket knife? Something I could slide in next to my wallet? That way I could carry the Para 2 and the Delica? Hmmmm

Yeah the delica would probably fit in your back pocket easily. I say just pick one up to try it out, they are popular for a reason and not too expensive. I sold mine because I didn't carry it enough over my sage 2 but now I'm thinking about grabbing one in zdp...

I have three superior Spydercos (Sage1, Caly3cf and BG-42 military) yet my old Delica3 still gets it's fair share of pocket time. There's something to be said about the light weight of a liner-less FRN spyderco. ATS-55 steel :D:thumbup:

Have you tried carrying IWB? That is a pretty easy way to carry a second knife. The only thing I don't like about clipping a knife to my back pocket is I worry about the clip scratching something. Or poking a hole in a leather car seat. With IWB I don't have to worry about that as much because of location and because my shirt is usually covering the clip.

It's not a Delica but I carry a salt 1 as a money clip inside my left pocket. It works good as a money clip and I always have a rust proof knife with me since I end up on the saltwater quite often.

Get the zdp stretch, almost the same size handle as delica but with a longer blade and it keeps the thinnes you like

I have a PM, PM2 and Manix 2 but the Delica is what rides in my pocket 95% of the time. Maybe it's just me but the Stretch carries and just seems like a much bigger knife than the Delica. It's thicker as well. Don't get me wrong, I like the Stretch but it sits home because of the Delica as well. I've seen people complain that the Delica's handle doesn't fit their hand but it fits mine like a glove. That's why they make so many different kinds. :)

Another vote for the Delica. Love the Para2 but the Delica is way more friendly in public. I agree with Krust, get the ZDP model. The flatground VG-10's are also the bomb.

My blue Delica 4 ffg still manages to bump my 'higher-end' Spydies out of the rotation, including my Para 2. The D4 is simply an amazing EDC! Choose your favourite flavour!

Oh man, I must be in deep trouble then...

Awesome collection there! I've been on a small scale Spydie binge lately myself. Nothing takes a Para2 out of my pocket, but I do often carry a delica or Jess Horn C38 in zdp as well. The lightweight FRN knives disappear in the pocket.

EDIT: There's a ZDP Delica on the exchange now.

I'd probably rather go with the VG10 version for my first just to make sure I'll actually use it (ZDP is pointless if it sits in a drawer). How strong is the lockup on the Delica? I'm hoping its pretty strong like the para2.

I'm also thinking about picking up a C20P para2 since I like the design so much, but I might have to start thinning out my collection if I'm going to start buying more expensive models.

The wear resistance on the 20cp para is unmatched bye any other production blade I have used.as for the lock, I happen to love my lockbacks. I have heard of some complaints of up and down blade play with lockbacks but I havnt had any. Here is a pic of a stretch next to a para. The stretches handle is alot more lean ,very similar in size to a delicas handle while giving you the length of a paras blade.

Very strong lock !!! It's a spyderco lockback and not much different from a triad lock !! If I remember correctly sal has said that cold steel got their lock geometry from spyderco !!!

Hmm I think you might have convinced me to give it a shot. I'm about to have a $130 Amazon gift card from a school textbook refund, so I'm considering a Delica and something else or maybe buying a Gayle Bradley. Hmmm choices choices choices. I'm really thinking about getting the Delica because it's cheaper and much smaller/thinner.
