I want to cut stuff.

I've abused my Kershaw Skyline to the max and its still going..(one year)

I've cut roofing paper, shingles, lead roof jacks, rope, paper, plastic sheathing, tape, drywall, romex, and other stuff I'm sure..

This thing is amazing for the price and on my belt sander (after serious use and abuse) it sharpens out to shaving paper pushing sharp in less then 2 mins.. 220 then straight to the leather belt..

if you want to try whittling/wood carving, give Basswood a try. Nice fine grain, fairly soft but holds shape well ( balsa's a bit too soft), pretty inexpensive. It's a very common carving medium

Ever tried working at the slaughterhouse? If that doesn't satisfy the urge to cut and slice, then nothing will.;)

Heh, I actually know a few people that work at one and I don't think it would be for me. I remember once I had to take a guy a knife I sharpened to him up there when he was at work and I about gagged at the smell in there. :barf:

In addition to all the materials mentioned already, I use my EDC at work to cut bad network cables, zip ties, plastic strapping on pallets and cardboard boxes. I also cut up cardboard boxes at home since my city has a recycling program and we shop at Costco often. It's just easier to fit all the cardboard into the recycling bin when they are all broken down.

I honestly don't know how I got by before I started carrying a knife.

The other day used my buck 110/kabar USMC to make a walking stick and used para-cord at the end.
It was a cool use of it....had fun while building it...

go for a hike on the woods, scout for the stick that will fit you.
Cut off with your heavy knife...you can start working on it on the woods or walk back home open a beer (or pop for minors)
and enjoy some creative time working with your knifes.

Cheers

I get the feeling. I work in a produce department, but because some people in upper management were apparently born without a brain, I spend most of my shift in front of a cash register, so I don't get much opportunity to use my knives despite having at least 20 of them.

So I'm trying to actually look for a job where I am specifically required to use a knife. Thus far only meat cutters seem to fit the bill, though I doubt I'll be using my folders no matter how much I want to. And even then my katana won't be seeing much use:D.

lemme "cut' to the chase. I sharpen my pencils, whittle a little, cut my steak alot, pretty much whatever needs cuttin and a little bit more. Have you tried THROWing your EDC?? :D

Hello all, just as most of you out there, I EDC a knife. While I get use out of it daily, I find myself wanting to cut more things, and often sit there looking for things to cut lol.

What do you cut daily with your EDC? I cut trings, open envelopes, opening packages, slicing some foods, etc but I would like to cut more haha. What do you cut on the daily?

you sir are a bit psychotic... I know:D cuz we can smell our own...;)

Haha **with an australian accent** "Look at him standin ther', observing, ...waiting patiently 'til he finds something to-CRIKEY!!! He has a hold of a newly made book! It hasnt even been read before! Oh my God! He is shredding it to bits! Quick, look at his technique...the ferocity in his eyes, the precision of his blade, this is a gruesome sight ladies n gents. He is just-Oh no...he is looking this way, ...he is advancing on us, run...RUN!!!***

The End. :D

Well I whittle and make things out of paracord, so I get to cut stuff pretty frequently. :)

I forgot to add earlier that I get to cut myself regularly fooling around with my knives, sharpening, opening & closing while watching TV etc. but I'm getting better.

for lots of fun, try making miniature, or even full size wildlife traps.

3-search utube or online for traps in the wild, then replicate them smaller for carving/using them on your desk. most all of them require wood, and a few need string. check it out.

So you're suggesting to carve/construct replica game traps for the office desk? I like it!

What do you have for a guy who's kids & wife always using his PC when they have their own laptops? Deadfall? Snares? I'm open to suggestions. :D

That's too easy. I want a rock to fall on a hand or snare to jerk the offending limb/body out of the way. Maybe this? Once should cure 'em.

Let's see, Today, I found myself teaching my 6 yr old daughter how to whittle a stick with my BM 555, after which I used it to peel and slice potato's, then I proceeded to cut some heavy sheet plastic to lay out on the carpet for the kidlets to eat Thanksgiving dinner.

Yeah, I can always find something or the other to cut :D

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
