  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

I want to save this handle!

Beachlogger, that is the best way if you have enough haft wood below the eye. If you hang the way I do, with very little haft wood bulge below the eye, you need a different way. I use the tapered drill bit out of a Fuller wood screw countersink bit. They come in different sizes that will match different wood wedge sizes. Carefully drill out the wedge. I use a old eggbeater hand drill instead of a electric drill for better control so as to do no damage to the haft. Then stick the head in a padded vice horizontally and drive out the haft with a piece of an old broken hickory haft.
