I want to try Magnacut

I want a knife with Magnacut steel but I need a blade 3 inches or less.

I am pretty open minded but here are my basic preferences:

1. $180 or less.
2. Must be a folding knife.
3. No flippers but I would consider any type of lock.
4. I don’t like blades with excessive belly but a little bit of belly is desireable.
5. 3 inch blade or shorter.
6. Must have Magnacut steel.

Anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks.

My recommendation is to have something made to your specifications at the Buck custom shoppe. Pretty sure the Spitfire would be right up your alley, unless the extra quarter inch of blade length would give you legal problems where you live. They've also got the Ranger, Knight and Squire on that page.

Failing that, there's always the Spyderco Delica which is available in a variety of steels and basically the king of folders in that size and price range. There's a wharncliffe version in S30V and a standard shape model in K390. I don't know if there's a Magnacut version yet though.

I'd also look into saving your beans to get a used small Sebenza. There will definitely be Magnacut models on offer soon if they aren't already. Might make you think about selling some of your other folders after you've got it in hand (and potentially paying for itself in the process). I know I've sold a couple since I got my Sebenza and have honestly been thinking of selling a bunch more. Since I got mine, I've only been carrying it and a couple other folders, mostly Spydercos and ZTs.

Dang! I just bought a Delica 3 weeks ago but I didn’t know it was offered in Magnacut. I got the standard VG10.

Wouldn’t hurt to have another one though. Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll take a look.

I intended to quote Kwon Kwang Kwon Kwang

Knowing Spyderco, if they don't already offer a Magnacut model, they will soon, unless Spyderco decides to Spyderco and pull some new ultra premium super steel nobody's ever heard of out of a hat. Again.

I'd also like to echo Insipid's recommendation because Kershaw is amazing.

There isn't a Magnacut Delica, and Spyderco hasn't offered it for any Japanese models. I wouldn't hold your breath and wait if you're already wanting something in the steel

I would buy one of those in a minute. But since they're dragging their feet, the Kershaw Belair is at the top of my list to get next. Need me a solid stainless steel knife for odd days I may need a stainless knife.

I love the blade shape, like the OP is looking for, little bit of belly but not a huge rounded front

The Tactile Knife Co. Rockwall pretty much hits all those marks except the price. They're normally around $300, but I'm pretty sure I've seen some sold on the marketplace here for around $200. It's an awesome little knife.

Railsplitter Railsplitter how about a neck knife. I have a box full of small MagnaCut EDC/neck knife blanks put away for a rainy day. Lots of blade shapes. Here's the one I've been carrying lately, though something like this one would be a bit above the stated price point due to extra materials and construction. But base price will be around or a bit below it depending on what you choose. A few with different handle design as well. All are hardened to around 63 RC. I could have one ready for you within two to four months. Nothing due until completion.
