and for the cuts I received after I sharpened my benchmade on the paper wheel setup he suggested. Honestly, I have never been able to get a knife this sharp. It was so sharp it honestly felt like I had dulled it when i brushed my thumb from one side to the other. Then figuring I dulled the knife tried to shave arm hair for the hell of it. My arm is now bald. This is way sharper than it came from the factory! I can't wait till I get the hang of it, my results will probably be a lot better. Thank you for the recommendation, I can't get the edges "pretty" yet, but they sure are slicing!

I'm a recent "convert" too, so I feel your joy...
Bad news is my wife got bit before I did...kitchen tomato slicer.

Hee hee, welcome to the shaved forearm club. Just spinnin my wheels.....

Yep, the paper wheels do a fantastic job, and as excited as you are about your results now, wait until a week or two when everything in your house (and your neighbors) has been sharpened.

Richard J was very helpful when I got my set. Heck, just reading all the posts in various old threads is about reading a book on the wheels.

i was told a funny story by a friend who camped out overnight at a fundraiser for a special wish. i had set up to sharpen knives and donate the money for the first time at this fundraiser which was put on by a local motorcycle club. my friend said this guy i sharpened a knife for was totally amazed at how sharp i got his knife. he was walking around the grounds showing people how easily it shaved his hair off his arm (the guy was so hairy he looked like a gorilla). all this time the guy was drunk and probably shouldnt have had a razor blade as my friend calls any knife i sharpen, in his posession. the next morning my friend hears a commotion and looks out. he sees this guy with one arm totally bald complete with razor burns and one arm all hairy except for a few bald spots and some more burns. he thought someone had shaved him while he was asleep but my friend told him what really happened. later on after a few cups of coffee the guy told my friend he sort of remembers what happened. i wish i had been there to have seen this. it sure would have been a kodak moment.

Glad to see more positive results. Keep the wheels spinnin'.

I'm still being a harsh critic on myself. I'm also still grinding up cheap chinese knives. Something nice will touch my wheels within a few days though. These cheapies are sharp as they have ever or could ever be, I'm fairly sure of that.

Going to take more pics of my poor results and post them in my other thread though in case anyone has tips.

This edge is two days old, I cut up some cardboard with it after i originally sharpened it and a few other things. The knife is a benchmade LFK- Here she is before sharpening, she was getting quite dull.

Now a video I just made a few minutes ago, it is still scary sharp. Just slicing up some newspaper. I've NEVER gotten a knife this sharp.

I've always heard "patchy arm hair syndrome" referred to as redneck mange or hunter's mange. You could always tell when hunting season rolled around in our house when I was growing up.

Yell at him all you want, he will just laugh and say "See, I told you so"

The only complaint that I have with Richard is that after meeting him and being instructed by him on the wheels, I immediately had to spend dough on a set, and then had to resharpen everything that I own because I wsn't happy until they were all stupid scary sharp:D

I had to quit testing on my arm hair as I ran out of spots and as looking like I had the mange. I still got a half bald left calf too.

Both my arms are bald now and i've got patchy legs. :(

My dad has a grinder he isn't using much right now so I'm going to be getting a set within the next couple of paychecks. I need to check the budget. :)

I'm really impressed....once I move out of my dump, I need to get one of these set-ups...

I'm confused. Why is a fixed blade tapped for a pocket clip?

Where can one aquire a set of these wheels? and what's the best compound. I have an 8" polisher in my workshop.
