I want your 2 cents

folding Stanley (et-al) box knife and a box of carbide or ceramic blades.

Why get nasty inedible glue on your good knife blade?
You won't be able to use it to peel or slice your love apple at lunch, if that nasty inedible glue is on the blade.
Wait, what?!! I'm supposed to wipe off the glue before I slice my apple? Uh-oh...
Oh, and I have absolutely no "cents" at all.

Another budget recommendation is the 484 Nakamura:

Under a grand? For cutting tape? Chunky means what?

Shirogorov F3 or F3R linerlock. It has a fatter handle than many knives, or even most. As a high quality linerlock you can’t squeeze the lock bar. (Common complaint of framelocks in these pages.) But it doesn’t have a stubby blade. It’s a four-incher.

And, after ownership and use, you just may find it useful for a plethora of other things to cut.

Just my two cents.
