I've put handles on blanks many times but this is the first time I have ever built a blade and made a knife from pretty much scratch. I was pretty satisfied with how it turned out, with the only disappointment being the Ironwood on the spacer turning dark due to the brass while buffing. I should have hand polished to 1500 grit and called it a day. Anyway overall I'm pretty happy with it and wanted to see what you guys thought about it.

That is a wonderful blade. The handle material is a great look as well.

Not bad. Congrats.

Though it looks like the guard is angled a bit towards the edge, which I dont much care for - visually it grates a little bit.

Might just be the pic playing a trick of course.

It sure looks like it in the pic, but it's the angle. The guard is a perfect 90 degrees in relation to the blade.

Thank you everybody for the kind words. I worked a long time getting that knife whipped into shape lol.

The sheath looks nice too.

Do the leather work yourself as well?

And just to kill the cat, what steel used?
Nice job though for sure.

I can't take credit for the sheath, I had that one made by someone who knows what they are doing on leather work. The steel is 01.

If you have any other pictures of the whole process I would be glad to see them! It is always helpfull for those willing to get their feet wet into knifemaking. I made a few of those WIP threads myself but it has been a while since I ground any blades from stock.

Good work on the knife and the sheath also looks great!

I don't have any other pics other than some etching pics that I was asking some advice on in one of the sub forums. The WIP thing sounds pretty cool though. I'm about to start a 1095 cleaver style project so there's potential to start one there.

Very good job with the O-1. I like your choice of handle material and where you used the spacers really compliments it. Overall, nicely done!

Thank you everyone. The build didn't go perfect and I should have done some things differently but overall I think it turned out nice. Thank you for the kind words.

Funy. In looking at your knife, I could only think of a "maker" who recently posted work. Years and years of experience. Not a good looking knife in thr bunch!

Yours looks great.

Can't wait to see how you progress from that start!
