I was told so many times that I am crazy that I believed!

Dmitry,

While I can't be certain of the content of what you've made, and I won't say wootz (or bulat), you sure did get some great dendrite patterns in that steel! What's even more impressive is that you've done it all by hand, without a proper anvil to speak of. It is clearly a testament to your depth of you desire and the strength of your work ethic.

Beautiful work!

Now, somebody buy this man an anvil! :D

Hi Dmitry

the Last pattern has some very nice sheeting.. you should remember how you did this and try to replicate its exact look... .. then when you ironed out the kinks in the process and can do it this many times with confidence..... then go public with its process and call it the " Dmitry pattern "... ... ..

i don't think your crazy... :D:D:D ;)

Greg

Lately I got the piece that is on the picture. That drove me absolutely crazy. Am I happy? Not in a million years... I am as mad as "hell after the flud"... I spent two years and a lot of other stuff just to get the wild damasscus pattern... that I could have made two years earlier...
What am I going to do now? You will never quess... I am going to make the pattern WORSE. Because no one will believe that this is crucible steel...

I PUBLICALY ADMIT, THAT I AM CRAZY NOW AND FOREVER. Please do not judge me and do not bug, I might become violent.:grumpy:

Guys, it is too late to revoke my admition. And I did not call my results with ANY specific word or term. Just because I am still not happy with what i've got.

Greg, thank you for kind words.
Everybody: Thank you for good words. Nice try to bring me back to normal. I am afraid it's too late. Too far, too deep, too much and so on.

Crazy..., I'm crazy.... (C) The Wall, Pink Floyd.

It's good to be Crazy, better if you can make money at it and better yet, if you can have fun doing it.

Good looking stuff, but remember "Perfect does not exist"

Maybe it takes being crazier than hel after the flood to make steel with that watered pattern. It is beautiful!

Brother Dmitry, who wants to be sane anyway?:D there's too many other sheeple out there as it is. Thats why i love this place, a bunch of cool people doing what they love and sharing, where alse would you want to be? BTW love your work:thumbup:

Dmitry, even the stuff that doesn't come out metallurgically perfect for blade making it would be great bolster material. Hell, I'll buy some chunks if you have no other plans for them.

Dave
