I will defer to those more knowledgeable on this.

MT_Pokt got it right.

There is a knife dealer here in St Louis that sells those, he knows they are Chinese fakes, tells people he gets them from a guy who buys buck 110's and converts them ha ha.

I bet that's the same dealer I've seen at Collinsville and Cape Girardeau shows, I've heard that story almost word for word.

I'm glad Buck makes their own Auto now and it looks totally different than these knock offs.

Don't think he's happy with me, but I suggested he show those pics to Buck, before he sells it as a "factory Buck". I'll gladly admit it I'm wrong, but I doubt so many of you guys are.

I'm learning, so I'm no expert. It is a fake, just with the knowledge I have. Mt Pokt and Desoto know the details proving the fact...

Well, this just took an odd turn.....he sent me a private message, saying he bought it from One Stop Knife Shop........

But before he took it down, he had said "I saw this same knife on Buck's table at Blade Show", so kinda taking anything he says with a grain of salt...

I am contributing here not as 110 'expert' but as old forum member. Go back about 10 years and you saw these on this forum pretty frequently. With discussion how they were fake's but the owner only bought it because they wanted a 110 auto and Buck wasn't building any. As stated they are something from the past and Buck does now builds a real one. That's all I know. JD I am surprised you don't remember 'Bear Claw' ever seeing one of the fakes here. 300

Until they became legal in Illinois last year, I hardly paid attention to autos of any kind.

Just to give a slightly spin to this. There are legitimate aftermarket conversions of real Buck knives. Some look pretty well done.
I don't want those people to be disparaged. I only have a problem with the particular knife shown at the beginning of this thread.

That knife is certainly a fake. There are far and away too many tell tale signs. These used to show up at swap-meets, yard sales, and etc. all the time. I never looked twice at them.

Now that there are real Buck automatics. I'm sure lots of people are dumping the fakes and conversions out of their collection. We will likely see more of these. Buyer beware.

Way to go, JD. And great backup Mt Pokt and Desoto.
Your actions make me proud to be a member of BF.

JD, that was me as the other fella talking to him. I saw he responded to me but took the post down after I listed out the "errors" on the knife. I keep seeing these pop up on the FB groups with folks making every claim that they are legit. One guy's story even consisted of him buying legit Bucks, shipping them to China, having them convert them, and then shipping them back. :/

Guess we can now say for sure we have a definitive answer, Buck has seen the pictures and ruled it as absolutely not a real Buck. :)

That's a glaring fake.

Edit : I was way late to the party, but I instantly noticed the spine of the knife having a slight dip in it.
