I like Buck quality and 420 steel. I do NOT have any large Buck field knives. I wish Buck would make a Ontario RA7-7, Ontario RD7 or KaBar Becker BK7 etc., in 1/4 thick:thumbup:

Try looking in Buck's site at some of their offerings on survival knives. You just might find one that suits your taste. DM

I like my Buck Alpha Hunter knives alot. I like the Buck (Case style) folding knives also. I so far have not see a large survival knife by Buck that completes with the Beckers, RAT, Ontario RD, fieldcraft/outdoor survival types. I use these at outdoor school teaching kids once a year. One day Buck might and I will be getting one if they do.

I've been thinking since the first post.......

Anybody with a name like "Afghan Warrior" must be here to fight.

:D

You made me smile!:) I did do two combat tours, but I am not looking to fight anymore. I retired and teach outdoor school to a middle school once a year for 1-5 days. I am always wanting to learn more about survival knives and I do have many. I like fieldcraft knives more than fighting knives. I find you can always fight with good outdoor field knives. My fancy and $$$ fighting knives make very poor field knives. I like USA brands like Buck, Ontario, Spyderco, Cold Steel, and KaBar. I just wish Spyderco and Buck would make an BK7 type knife.

So you were really an American Warrior......well, I hope you find your knife.

:)

arent Buck and KaBar the only American companies of the 5 listed?

Buck (ID), Ontario (NY) big US Gov't knife maker, and KaBar (NY) 2nd US Gov't knife maker are all 90% + made in USA.

Syderco does make many knife lines in Colo (Native, Military) etc.

Cold Steel yes is HQ only....I do like them but grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

i stand corrected. i dont own any Ontario, Spyderco or Cold Steel knives so i wasnt sure.

That is a great question. It is also why I want a Buck Becker BK7 or RAT-7:D. I mostly have Ontario, Camillus (now gone), and Spyderco, due to trying to buy USA made blades first. Most of my Spyderco knives are the Colorado made ones. I got the Pink Spyderco Native folder (made in Colo) for all the women in my life. I try to own only a few Cold Steel knives.

i was suprised at the hoodlum my self

RAT - now ESEE - has their blades made by Rowen - in ID, I think. Their home is actually not far from here, in Gallant, AL. Here are my 'similar' examples from both sites - my older RC-5 (Now ESEE-5.) and KaBar Becker BK-2, both 5" x .25" 1095 blades. My BK-2 has the extra cost aftermarket Micarta handles - not worth it, in my mind. Proper searching can find the Becker/KaBar at <$60 shipped - and the newer Buck 060 Hoodlum for <$120 shipped, too.

Sorry about the following busy picture of all of my Christmas booty, but it is the only picture which includes the huge Buck 060 Hoodlum. Also included is the Buck 113 fb Ranger.

The Hoodlum should mke a great survival knife for the woods - good sheath, too.

Stainz

PS Mrs. Stainz - aka Santa - was really good to me!

Nice pics. I really like the micarta handles on that BK2. I just got one for $49.99 (a good deal).
