I wish nalgene had a true standard diameter for its bottles...Cup question

Looks good
Does they fit in the Camelbak bottles too?

Sorry for my english :o

There are lots of polycarbonate bottles out there and most are a different diameter than the actual Nalgene brand one liter bottle-- larger 99% of the time. I've had no trouble with the Olicamp and MSR pots made to fit the Nalgene when using the actual Nalgene product.

The Camelbak bottles with the flip top spout are smaller diameter and taller than the one liter Nalgene.

Cups aside, (which I'm glad to find out about the olicamp cups I've been looking for something just like that) I've been noticing a trend towards the wide mounth bottels. I personally prefer the narrow mouth 32oz/1L Nalgene to the wide mouth. Am I the only one? Those whom prefer the widemouth why?

My tendancy towards the wide mouth is because they are easy to clean, and ice cubes fit easily.

I like the wide mouth for ease of cleaning. Also, my MSR Mini-Works screws right on to the top of a wide mouth Nalgene.

I spoke with a rep of the Olicamp company turns out they make two sizes of cup. one is to small for the standard nalgeneg bottle but will fit the soft kind. The other fits the 32oz nalgene perfectly.

hope this helps.

Wide mouth bottles becuase they are easy to clean, easier to fill, and more versatile- can't put your electronics in the narrow mouth too easily when you are going to be on water. What the narrow necks do, and do well, is they don't spill, but there are little widgets that go in the opening of the wide mouth bottles that do the same job- think of them as a sippy lid for us big kids. :P There are a number of manufacturers, just about anyplace that sells Nalgenes should have them around. (Or you can get really fancy and order just the top of the Camelbak bottle, which is supposed to fit.)

Anyone know how tight the tolerances on the Nalgenes are? I know they are molded, but other than that I don't know anything about their manufacture.

If there are problems fitting the cup to the bottle, I'd say the problem is more likely the cup. Nalgene makes labware to very exact specifications. Their tubes and bottles have to fit very tightly (for example in a centrifuge which spins at 7000G) or they would not fit into their adaptors. I don't know if the recreational bottles are built to the same specifications, but their labware is the industry standard.

Well, I was going to suggest the cups at Sportsmans Warehouse. I've bought them before and they fit perfectly. I bought another one this morning and it is just a bit too small. The mouth diameter is identical, but the body's diameter is a tiny bit smaller. Guess I'll have to order an Olicup.

I wish I had seen this before. I picked up the GSI Bottle Cup from my local LL Bean, and sure enough, my Nalgene doesn't fit into it. Guess I'll order the Olicamp.
