I Wonder what would happen?

About 7years ago I was approached by a couple business owners in my industry to look into the feasibility of advanced training seminars. I really dove into my work and 2 years later I founded the National Wildlife Damage Management Academy. We ran four courses and trained over 150 people from all over the U.S.,Canada and Mexico. I even had students from Australia.

I designed a course that lasted 5 days and covered all aspects from customer service to chemical immobilization. It was a major success but unfortunately my family time became so limited that I had to close the doors.

Survival skills are widely available online but the procurement of game is very weak. Most trapping and snaring information is outdated by 50 to 100 years and some doesn't even work in the real world.

What would happen if a few organizational type minds from this and a few other forums decided to put together a weekend type course on trapping, snaring and hunting that cover all bases in an efficient manner? Also include a swap meet and greet as well?

I can teach trapping, snaring and hunting as well a field prep after the catch.

If anyone wants I can post a resume. Just ask.

Well, for one thing, it would have to be in a state that allowed it. I don't know about Indiana but it's verboten in a lot of places, snares that is. Or, if you could obtain an exemption from the DNR in areas that restricted this type of trapping. I think it would be very valuable indeed!

Thanks for replying Don! I would try to make a course with trapping and hunting as well that way it would be legal anyone to practice their skills learned. I would think that the course should be designed as an emergency survival situation training so if you needed to set a snare in order to live through an emergency situation it would be warranted.

I know many survival videos and courses teach deadfall use and deadfalls are illegal almost everywhere.

Keep the comments coming!!

Howdy Bud, I get the idea and like it, I'm not really sure what you're looking for though Brother..Like minded people?

This is the most interesting part. I have had the most success with a multi-snare squirrel pole. I have had no real success that I can recall, with a deadfall and so-so results with drag snares and nothing to brag about with counterweight/twitch-ups although they work great for fishing!

RR, I'm looking to see if there are enough like minded people to start into a planning phase. Trust me, when I formed the NWDMA it took months of planning amongst 4 of us to get it off the ground.

Gauge interest first, then on to a planning stage if enough are looking at the same thing I envision. Done correctly, this could become a sort of survival training/ gathering Mecca.

I'm sorta seeing a way for like minded people to get together in an atmosphere of learning and networking while providing suppliers and manufacturers an opportunity to meet the customer face to face and see their products at use.

That's what I thought, Just wanted to clarify PM incoming. Visitor message left for you Snareman...

This is omething would be very useful here in Thailand but unfortunately too costly to travel to US or pay people to come here. I have a farm here and big problem is many farmers, to prevent wild pigs and other animals from eating crops, rig up traps which are flintlock rifle with a tripwire attached which is very dangerous for kids and other people and also inefficient. If there was a way to teach people to make safe and efficient snares or traps, like with a video as people here cannot read English books, it would be very worthwhile. Thank uou.
