Not looking to make a business or even profit, just to pay for the gas and shipping really. I do allot of hiking, walking and driving in Arizona (love my state) and pick up large cured trunks/"roots" and "burl" constantly which tends to get used in bbq :)

However if there is a market, or INTEREST- just state so and I will upgrade my account appropriately and begin putting together mix packages (with pictures)

Thanks and be sure to let me know.

For those who dont know, mesquite and iron wood are desert "tree bush vines" that are extremely dense and polish much like a good steel or stone when worked. Using a grinder stepped through 1000+++ paper I have polished pieces until they glistened and seemed alive. Personally I than use three solid coats of ballistol wiped and buffed in to seal and call it good.

Regardless-

Let me know okay guys? After perusing ebay it seems people are really going stupid on pricing.

From what I understand ironwood is a protected plant in Arizona and a permit from the department of Agriculture is needed for the possession, collection, or transportation of ironwood. Permits are even needed to cut ironwood on your own private land.

Collection of mesquite from anywhere other than your own property is probably restricted too.

You may want to look into this in more detail.

Must be laws passed by east coast politicians, lmao, cause mesquite and even iron wood is extremely prolific, as in a weed and not natural to arizona, it was brought from texas and mexico by cattle herds. :)

Iron wood yes- is protected, but also can be permited.

Mesquite is not.

Thanks for the legalizing ;)

The initial post was specifically asking if there was interest. I know this states laws and the fed crap as well. That was NOT the question. Thanks :)

Reminds me of the last time Texas and California tried telling Arizona what to do...

They launched large protests and movements to reintroduce the mexican grey wolf and now gophers into Arizona.

Two years later local Ranchers with blm approval paid me and my fellow hunters to start culling sad, humans,

"Omgurd that dead wood should be protected..." lmao :)

Sorry for the rant, seriously though, instead of answering a simple query the only response is "i am your friendly texas government supporter and while waving mah flag want to make sure yall is free enough to keep paying taxes and doing everything right cause obviously texans are smarter than arizonans..." lmao

Want to know a secret...the law is my practice, knives and guns are just a hobby

Maybe you should wait for more responses then before the rant?

If you collected it, cut it to show the figure of the wood and perhaps even sent it out to be stabilized sure you could probably find people who would want it.

I was going to just let this go, but your attitude and the general topic dictate otherwise. First closed thread of 2015.
