Hello Brochachos,
I recently bought an I.X.L Wostenholm Sheffield Bowie 6 inch and I wanted to rap with some others that own one and have used it. They are small for a bowie but really nice looking with thick stock blades in EN9 carbon steel with a heavy brass double hilt. Who gots one?

Welcome to Blade Forums Steely Dan.

I have one similar or the same as yours. The steel is similar to our 1055-1065 carbon steel. It's pretty tough but not all that wear resistant. I noticed it didn't come very sharp and was about half way between a V edge and a convex so I turned mine into a full convex edge. It sharpens very easily and takes a decent edge.

It is worth what it sells for. It's not the highest quality nor is it the worst. The handles are too thin for me to use the knife really hard without getting cramps in my hand but it's a fun knife that reminds me of the inexpensive knives I couldn't afford as a kid in the 60's.

Have a good day.

Joe
