Iam looking for a new EDC Knife, but think I need to think smaller

I work in a hospital so have to go small. A Spyderco Meerkat works well. Away from work its a Delica, PM2, mini Commander, or a TSF Beast.

One needs to consider what size a knife they are comfortable with and then weigh the concealibility and exposure considerations when choosing to carry especially where there are people who might be uncomfortable hearing a loud knife snap. Around 3" works for me, but like I said earlier, the Cold Steel Tuff Lite has really surprised me in terms of how useable it is. Defensive use really does not come into my knife choice consideration.

Don't worry about political leanings of others, just choose a practical knife for your needs.

For lighter everyday use I think a delica can't be beat. Lightweight, quality fit and finish, good steels available.

Well for the time being a Blade Size of 3.5" LONG is my goal, seeking on finding something that folds, and I can beat the crap out of.

Sounds like you want a ZT folder. I just ordered the 0770CF which has a 3.25" blade as I understand it.

To me it's not something WE can determine for you. What your needs are and the daily tasks you expect to use it for are the criteria that will decide what you should carry. If you're a construction worker and you use it for cutting drywall, tarpaper, boxes, etc then a beefy full-sized folder (or fixed blade perhaps) would be in order. If you're a hunting guide in Alaska? - you get the idea.

If you work in an office and live a relatively mundane life then a 2"-3" bladed slipjoint will accomplish 99% of what you'll typically need a knife for and you'll never have to worry about people diving under the desks and calling for Security when you pull it out to open a box.

That's pretty darn long for most pocket folders, and a nice size for a 'defensive use' folder. Again, for the VAST majority of things one might 'need/want' a knife for, smaller tends to be better. A pair, one 'small' type knife, like a stack or a tradition multi-blade, along with your version of a pocket sword, makes for een more versatility.

I used to like big folders like that, but got rid of all but the CS Recon 1. I personally think for daily use a smaller folder is better. The only time I carry the recon is when I'm outdoors. My M-F 9-5 knives are the Caly 3 CF/ZDP, Brous Bionic (3" blade), Brian Tighe Mini Tighe Rod (2.75" blade), Spyderco Dragonfly2 ZDP-189 (2.25" blade).
