I've hiked/bummed/hunted around on the portion that loops around Devil's Lake State Park and just east of there for about as long as I can remember, since I've lived in this area most of my life. The terrain is full of bluffs and hills and great scenery, especially around the lake it's self. That's the only part of this trail that I've been on. Hope this helps some... http://www.iceagetrail.org/PDF/Series_C_Sauk-Columbia.pdf -Matt-

Head to the South Shore (winding road by the boat launch) entrance to Devils lake but instead of turning at the sign, go straight until the road ends and hike that area also. Not many folks ever go back there.
