Ice in the Shop

Did the same thing to us Don
We started out at 65-70 out and thunderstorms on Tuesday. That night we had water clear around the house, it got into my dads shop and the tractor shed, and the part of the barn the horses are in (luckily the stalls are higher and stayed dry) The next day it was down to about 50 and the water finally went away. Thursday the temp started dropping and by saturday we were in the teens, then below zero monday and tuesday. Today it snowed 2" and the storms hitting east coast are supposed to work their way over

I wish I was better at converting F to Celcius, last week here in Wynyard Saskatchewan Canada I left for work in the morning at -35 C and with the wind chill it was more like -48 C. No joke. It was a good day to be inside.

Ha! Freezing here in Chattanooga, couldn't feel my fingers a little while ago when working outside on my addition to the house.

Gotta get ready for our "Annual Winter Camping Trip" in the N. Georgia mountains...should be fun, we have about 30 dads & sons go every year, I am in the group (6 guys) that share a surplus Army "Medium". tent, has a wood burning stove (with a chimney through the canvas roof) in it! Last year it was low teens outside with snow showers, inside the old iron stove was glowing red and we were in t-shirts playing poker and drinking beer! Nothing like "roughing it"!

The guys say I gotta go because if they need a blade or an axe sharpened I'm "the man"...LOL...They have given up asking me "if I have a knife?", because I start pulling out folders, fixed blades, etc. until they say "that one will do". Last year I brought my "little log splitter" (10lb maul/axe) and it was the hit of the weekend with everyone trying to out-do eachother splitting firewood! Of course I sat back in a chair, sipping a brew and being gracious allowing anyone that wanted to to "try it"...LOL ;)

I just started forging knives, etc. with the help/tutelage of "The Real" Larry Kemp! It is going to be fun next year on our camping trip, I hope to be carrying only knives I made myself, plus a few hawks/axes for throwing fun! I may even set up a portable smithy and do some forging during the camp out! :D

People say, "oooh, I couldn't handle all that rain you get in WA." But I'll tell 'ya, we've got a VERY mild year-round climate.
Well said, Mr Wheeler! I grew up on the Minnesota prairies where winter is serious & long. I now live up the road a spell from Nick. Only thing I got to say about the Washington state soggy winters is, "Ya don't hafta shovel rain off yer sidewalk like ya do snow!!" ;) :D :D
