March 3rd came in like a lion here . Took down one of our old apple trees :

Today , I made a point to try out my new 3V Master Hunter to perform some baton work on above tree carcass .
I just used a small round , ~2" diameter X 16" long . that I'd already cut with the Husqvarna , for my batten .
Worked fine . It is a way to be very precise , and probably safer ; and works with even a 4.5" blade , easy to carry, that you might actually EDC .

Downside , for my use , is the inefficiency (at least with a small knife ) compared to other methods .
After playing at battening for awhile , I needed to get back to work with my Gurkha Kukri Plus and mainly the Estwing 26" Camp Axe .
Of course the vast bulk of the work was chainsaw (...and not forgetting my fancy Swiss anvil loppers , which I use frequently for trail clearing also .)

FELCO 231
Get geared up with the lever system and curved anvil cutting head that will have you disbelieving your own strength, regardless of your physical stature. The FELCO 231 lopper realises 65% more power due to its clever construction. You’ll also question how that’s possible when weighing up the...
