I'd like your feedback on a couple topics: Search, Subforums, Banner Ads

As far as banner ads go, please "do what you need to do" to keep bladeforums going, and profitable for you. I love it here.

Search engine change sounds like a good thing to me, too.

I haven't read the whole thread. What about selling some BLADEFORUMS gear like shirts or mugs. Perhaps with a subscription ? Love the site, Keep up the good work.
 
As a registered member, not a paying one, I would completely understand if you enabled ads on the forums. As long as the boards aren't completely bombarded and you don't have wide screen-grabbing ads (I hate those) then it's cool with me.

I actually find it quite respectful that you even asked for our opinion. Most website owners would just do what they needed to do in order to keep the site up and running.

Oh, and if Sphinx won't technically hinder the boards, then I say go ahead. Most people search BF with advanced search on google, anyway. I think the threat of losing paid membership is minimal if you open up search to all.

Once I get a steady job, I plan on purchasing membership on BF. This is a great community and I've learned an awful lot. :thumbup:

Hi Spark,

Quick question on this subject of PM's. If Platinum members get 300 messages for the $50 membership fee, why does a Gold membership for $25 only get you 40 messages? Not trying to ruffle feathers, but this seems like a very large disparity here. Would it be possible to increase Gold member PM's to about 100? That would be more inline with the membership fee IMO.

Well, I'm seeing the banners. I'm all for supporting BFC, however.

Now if there is another even more premium membership than Platinum that will eliminate the banners for me then I'll buy that. I am not a dealer and i am not a knife maker so don't tell me about those.

In the meantime if Platinum is big enough to pass on the banners, then please remove them from my screen.

Spark, It's great that you care enough to ask for our input.

That being said, you do what you have to do to run the ship. Everything is great here and if banner ads and such help the place out monetarily I certainly don't mind them.

The $25.00 I paid for a gold membership feels like I'm stealing, It's really worth much more than that.
