Idaho Stamp vs non Idaho blades

Is one more sought after or valuable than the other?

Yes I know the Idaho knives are the newer version, steel etc but it seems on the FS boards one is usually preferred over the other.

What say you?

Do you prefer the Idaho stamp or not, why?

TIA!

Regards,
Brad

For me personally, I would prefer no stamp, it just seems to take up more real estate on the knife than the CR logo...I would rather have Chris Reeve spelled out and a little Idaho state outline, but that's me.
I'll still buy the darn addicting things though, :D

No feeling either way here but i can understand the 'retro grouch' camp as it pertains to these knives.
Newer design/production methods/models are sometimes difficult to adjust to and some people simply prefer the older, more rare originals.
That said, i am currently considering the purchase of an available large 'no I.S.' model.
To each their own.

In ten years, the new sebenzas will have a slightly different look, different steel etc, and the older 21's with the S30v/ S35V and "Idaho Made" will be peoples "grail"

I like the made in Idaho concept, but not the execution. I think the design could have been better and I agree with those that think it is up side down. So given the choice I will buy knives without the stamp. If however there comes a point that I can not find what I need without the stamp, I would buy one with it. All in all it is no big deal, the knife still functions the same and that is what is most important. I am sure with a little time I would forget the stamp was even there.

I have no idea why anyone would object to it. The knives are made in Idaho. If they were made in Texas I would hope to see a "Texas Made" stamp.

The stamp wouldn't stop me from buying a knife I want. But, given the choice, I'd take a no-stamp every time.

If they gave me a choice I'd choose no stamp. Since I have two that have the stamp it really hasn't stopped me from buying one with the stamp. :)

both of mine have stamps, they're not overtly in your face, but i'd still prefer no stamp

Right now, probably the stampless is more valuable, but if CRK stops putting the stamps on the knives, I'm sure the stamped ones will be worth something more.

So, CRK take the opportunity to revamp the Classic a bit, and at the same time get rid of the vile and corny Classic stamp. Everyone on the planet cheers!

Two weeks later they stick Idaho Made on the thing in green neon letters a foot high

It is enough to make a person spit.

And I am one of those who has been busy saving for a large plain 21!! It's not as if I am not in love with Sebs :D:D

Thanks to all - trying to decide which Umnumzaan to keep.... brand new, stamped or lightly used w/o.

Cheers,
B~

I'd definitely prefer without the stamp and according to the polls on this forum and others the vast majority of users would too.

So how could it not be worth more without the stamp?

I have no objection to it at all. I kind of like the concept. There has been controversy, some of it comical, people got so upset. The topic, however, has been talked to death.

Yeah they are really funny, I was laughing most of the time reading those threads, very comical and entertaining. ROFL :D

I like the stamp on my Zaan. :)

If any of you have spent any time on the Spyderco sub-forum you know they are a rabid pack of fanboys. I like Spydercos (only a few) and go there once in awhile.

I noticed that they love the Military and various sprint runs with the "Golden Colorado USA Earth" stamp on the blade which is a bit childish in it's length of description.

I've never heard a peep out of them about that stamp though. I thought I'd hate the the stamp but found it to be a non-issue. :)

I prefer no stamp for sure. I am not a fan of the font or the placement of the current stamp. Looks a little goofy to me. However, i will likely always carry some form of sebenza so if I lose mine I will have one with a stamp. Not a huge issue overall

Yeah it's really a non issue, not like it will effect the performance of the knives...

The world will continue to spin, the Sun will continue to rise and set....... Hardly a world changing event..... ROFL
