Idaho Stamp vs non Idaho blades

I really couldn't care either way. I respect Chris Reeve's design, and take them for the way he chooses them to be.

I prefer it to say Idaho Made. Everyone that touches it knows exactly where that knife came from and realizes that it is made in the USA.

I bought a new small seb 21 in march this year, didn't even notice the idaho made at first after taking it out of the box for a quick look, doesn't bother me at all, it's still a sebenza after all, would be different if it was on the front scale next to the CR logo though.

You're not typing while drinking are you?? Seems like you are bored and trying to stir things up.

giant1 - You disagreed with the stamp - we all have an opinion - that's a little out of character from your usual posts?

I think what Ankerson is referring to is that some posters are complaining with such vehemence that they sound like little girls/wife/women and need to man up and stop crying about such a minor change. Thus the recommendation for some testosterone injections all around.

I'll be the first to admit that in the big thread about this I really complained until I got 2 CR knives "with the stamp" and realized how silly I was to complain so much. You don't even notice it. I'm a righty and it's on the blind side when I use it or look at it. And small italic gray on gray titanium - well, it's become invisible to me.

Love it or hate it, the new stamp has sure polarized the opinions of Chris Reeve fans!

I'll admit I was having a little shot at Ankerson because I thought he was coming on a bit strong. :o

We all have our opinions and we should respect each others opinions. I have made no secret of what I think of the stamp, I did buy an LE sebenza with the stamp on it and my thoughts have not changed. I prefer the Classic MM logo, but I know a lot of guys don't like that one either.

Having said all that I agree it's not a big enough issue to get worked up over or argue about.

Thanks for pulling me up

It was more about the WAY most of the complants were made, go back read through the threads and READ them....

I was laughing like crazy most of the time, it was like listening to a bunch of little kids or people just looking for things to whine about...

Anyway I am done now. :D

Still funny though.....

Ankerson

Sorry if I took my comments too far, I meant no disrespect :)

Is this just your opinion due to your dislike of the stamp or do you have any proof to justify that statement?

No proof at all, just my speculation.

Chris Reeve (or a representative) has posted that the stamp is there for an important reason and won't be going away.

Polls indicate that 90% of clients don't like it.
With a decent percentage saying they dislike it enough to stop purchasing.

Very few things in manufacturing or business are done without a reason.
If it negatively effects sales and is still put there, then there would be some sort of compensation.
If it costs the factory to put it there, but doesn't positively effect sales, then there would be some sort of compensation.

The only logical reason I can think of is some sort of State tax break or other monetary compensation.

Why you you think the stamp is there?

By the way yeah, I was having a rant.
I probably went a bit too far with the comments.

Also I will say that I have ordered a knife with a stamp direct from the factory because despite the stamp I still like the knife and still want it.

I believe Mr. Reeve when he said.

"I am the one who is responsible for the wording and the placement. I did it to be different and to be noticeable because (1) I am proud that our knives are made, not only in the United States but in the beautiful State of Idaho and (2) we are one of the few knife companies left that are completely USA made, and with US materials."

Yep, that was very straight forward and completely logical as the reason why he is putting the stamp on the knives. :)

To annoy potential buyers? Personally, I'm waiting for the ones that say "Proudly made by prison labor in the People's Republic of China from recycled radioactive waste," but experience suggests that at least a couple of people would be unhappy with that, too. :(

I am sitting here looking at my newly purchased Small Sebenza with its innocuous but apparently offensive "Idaho Made" stamp and wondering why the hell anyone would complain about it, much less threaten to never buy another CRK blade because of it.

I think I can saftely say that the issue is not that people are not supportive of CRK proudly displaying Idaho(USA) made on the knife but
the design is just out of place with the looks and overall feel of the knife. I liked the idea of having the outline of the state of Idaho placed
near the pivot or on the lockbar with USA in the middle.

I don't man. I hardly notice it at all and I've stared at the the damn knife for prolonged periods of time.

Honestly, those who are complaining about it excessively probably prefer Grey Poupon mustard.

What he said! :D

Awesome car either way, but......

It's still a point of contention apparently..especially the pic above..Sense..It makes none really. It's a knife...not a car..HUGE disparity in cost. Besides, you can repaint the car. :)
If anyone has any delusions that the "stamp" is hurting sales, should really take a look around. You would think that by the numbers, there would be some inventory....Everywhere I look...Either sold out, or very close to it.
Relax..It is merely a tool. It spends it's life in a pocket, or a sheath until it is needed. The stamp (I still stay engraving) does not affect function..Just your view of personal aesthetics. I swear..The envelopes and boxes will not know it's there... :)

The picture is meant to be taken with a grain of salt (but there is a reason for the Porsche door analogy here). :)

but with the spirit of Africa in them....ha ha!

All seriousness. It wont stop me from buying any CRK. Its just one of those things. I dont like many makers logo/imprint on a knife, but it wont affect the design, functionality nor its quality and those are far more important to me then any stamp.
