dont know how practical this would be ... well probably not practical at all... but these sure do look nice... and i was doing a bit of research and the only kind of "moro" style kris swords (not to be mistaken with regular kris swords) are antiques because the sword masters of indonesia is a forgotten art or they dont make any money on the functional ones...

but regardless these are beautiful... id definately buy one if HI kamis were to make these (these are all high quality functional sowrds no tourist models here):

and this site has some antiques but many of them have been "refurbished" with nicer handles and nicer sheaths etc... but the uglier ones are the originals... some great work here... look at some of the bone the sword hilts:

Yup, they're pretty.:D Did you know Federico is a regular here when he isn't busy with school? One of these days Federico is going to rehandle my Sundang, or Moro Kris for me.

PS I know Erik Farrow quite well, and have bought seveal keris from him. Really neat guy. If you search his website you will find pictures of him getting married --- wearing Moro armor!

Those are some very attractive swords. I'm sure the kamis could do them justice. Not my cup of tea personally, but there are probably more than a few folks here who'd want one.

Now, if Bura could be persuaded to crank out an M1818 or M1913 saber... :D

Swords eh?

Well, while we are having ideas...why not a Khanda? It is the oldest of the Indian sword weapons, though it doubles well as a war-club if not razor-sharp.

Make it like 4-5 feet long (yeah, that's right ;) ), diamond cross-section of the blade with double edges, full tang (of course...not traditional, but maybe an advance in the design...could certainly sculpt the handle to be a more traditional shape), thickest section of the blade being the center at about 1/2+ inches, blade width about 2 inches just below the tip tapering downwards to about 1.5 inches above the handle, and weigh a lot.

Of course, a 3 foot version could work too... :D

Me thinks that truck springs do not come in that size...

Hmm...perhaps I should stop watching Conan... :footinmou

Back to my daydreaming...

Ugh...

I suggest a Khanda one day and it shows up as a Special the next day. Of course, the internet refuses to work until the sword is gone.

:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

Check out the Black Bhairab Sword...minus the handle, it is pretty much a Khanda...

Only one complaint...not heavy enough... :D :D :D

Guess I will start considering the Tibetan 36" Sword instead. ;)

I just *would like to see* a genuine H.I. Celtiberian Falcata, like those that Sanu made, but a little wider, like in the Angus McBride illustrations. Fancy scabbard doesn't matter. Bronze (or white metal) grip, not wood.

"The Celts fought with spears and knives, but, above all, they wielded the falcata, which could cut the arms at the shoulder and sever heads with one chop..."
