This is exactly what his shows are about. Pretty much he shows how a normal person could possibly get lost/stranded etc. You see most people think , I will never get lost in a desert, go to the artic, etc. He shows how if you rent a kayak and go too far and end up losing the kayak. He shows how if you go hunting just off a known trail and get lost. If you get left while scuba diving. Get lost while hiking in the Sierra Nevada on a known hiking trail. Its all been done, other than going to the AT and doing the exact same thing he did in Sierra Navada, you guys will complain and say he did the same thing. There are really only so many scenarios that normal everyday people will get into and he has pretty much shown them all. Now only sometimes does he show self rescue, like Dual Survival does. But this is also tricky as the common person with a family generally is too stupid to try and find his way out and really is better off staying where people might look for them and not roam around the countryside. Anyone that somewhat knows where they kinda are or where a road/town is in relation to them is not going to need this stuff as they will head North and know they will hit a road eventually. I do agree he is the most calm and stale at times, but what he shows is closest to the real thing of surviving in a common situation that could happen to the average Joe. If your having fun your camping, survival is not fun and hard to do.
This is what makes it tough, most people on this site can get by in a pinch so we take what Les shows for granted and want more. The average guy that sits around and never goes into the "wild" will get something out of this hopefully and is the point of the show really. He tried to combine it with education like Ray Mears for a season and it was a failure, not enough people wanted to watch this in the USA.
