Ok it hasnt been very long since the last contest i held and gave a free knife away but with the other GAWs going on i had an idea for when i reach 1000 posts and wanted to see what people thought before the time comes.

Last time i gave several weeks to enter and opened it up to everyone new or old, beckerhead or not, gold or regular members, all were welcomed. And there was only about 10 entries. And a cheater.

As i browse thru the forum i notice the same people posting and trying to help others out. The same cool people offering give aways. the same great few sending other members things free just to help out. then you see people come from the wood work just to get something free, and never care to post unless they need something.

So for my next GAW or contest i want to limit it to people that have offered a GAW or contest themselves. Or Anyone that can show in a previous PUBLIC post that they offered to send someone something to help out with no money needed, or just shipping. No one else could enter. this way the good caring people get the prize.

Obviously last time i only had 10 entries so this could even reduce the entries more. but last time was a contest and not everyone can go out and build a fire in there yard or by the beach (camh, winner with an excellent picture) but if it was a random number thing it wouldnt matter and everyone who enters chances would go up.

I know not everyone can afford to give things away. i know not everyone has 1000 post and reached a gaw yet. But i think it would be better to give to those that have showed they give back to the community. Any problems with this idea? Would this be offensive to the rest of the members?

I like this idea, even though I doubt I'd be eligable. I have yet to do a contest but I plan to after the holidays. I am too broke right now.

Honestly there is no way that you can prevent someone fom being offended. Also it is not your job to make sure everyone is ok with it. If you are going to give away something of yours for free in my opinion you can set the rules how you want. Just make sure the rules are stated clearly and enforced. I would like to see a "Beckerhead allstars" contest.

Doesn't offend me in the least bit. I understand what you're saying. Many times I don't enter a contest, because the prize is something I already have, or, it's something I don't feel I would use. It does kind of annoy me too, when someone that rarely posts shows up for a contest.

I need to change it, Warrior you would definetly be eligible. You spend alot of your time helping others out with signatures and pictures. you dont have to, but do. We all have seen your handy work. So i would need a clause for those like you that do alot for others even though it might not be giving away something. Digital work is still work....

It doesnt need to be a GAW for a knife. sent someone paracord? shockcord? sharpening stones? patches? anything that you gave away from the heart, with nothing needed in return.

Thanks. I did a contest once, and gave away a complete, unissued Swedish mess kit, and gifted the Moose man some tiger stripe scales and a bottle of Jack Daniels, haha. I gifted other things as well, that weren't on the forum.

I do NOT think that anyone would be offended by that. Anyone that would be offended wouldn't really "fit" with the Beckerhead crew, that is just my view though.

I find it offensive that you don't think I would be offended by this. Also, Guyon has nearly 4.6 million posts in 14,000 forums. A little internet trivia for you.

I find people who stalk me over on http://mylittlepony.com/forums offensive. However, I'm proud to note I've never given a single thing away. BTW, friendship is magic.

Your contest your rules. Sometimes the lack of entries is due to time or whatever. I like the contests better than just giveaways, or at least do a giveaway where you have to post a picture or something rather than just "IM in"

You should hit a thousand around 9:30 so congrats in advance.

Lmao, ok ill post less.....Maybe....prolly not... depends on what i read

I'm so good at posting on Internetz forums that I can impart a metallic taste from my keyboard alone.
tradewater, on the other hand, needs a three-foot proximity and a copy of Maxim.

Yea i prefer the contest. And pics make everything more interesting. but alot of people myself included have no yard, and would get fined for starting a fire. I could do something like the first person who takes a picture with a street sign with these letters in it --- or something similar that everyone could do no matter your local laws.
